the close of each academic year an annual report of its activities. C. Certificate of Recognition. Each application for recognition will be considered by the Committee on Student Organizations of the Student Senate and, if it is the opinion of the Committee that the conditions set forth above are clearly met, the application will be forwarded with a recommendation to the Office of Student Affairs. The recommendation will be reviewed by the staff, and if the organization is approved, a certificate of recognition shall be issued. Copied of this certificate are sent to the Auditor of Student Organizations Fund, the Director of Space Assignment and Utilization, and the Iowa Memorial Union Scheduling Office. If an application for recognition is denied by the staff of the Office of Student Affairs, the officers of the proposed organization so affected may request the Committee on Student Life to review the decision. VIII. Interpretation of Registration or Recognition. Registration or recognition of a student organization does not constitute an endorsement of its program or purposes. Registration or recognition is simply a charter to exist and, except for college or departmental organizations, if at any time a showing of misuse or non use is made, further registration or recognition may be denied by the Committee on Student Life. IX. Withdrawal of Recognition. In the event a request for withdrawal of recognition form a student organization is made, the following procedure will be followed: A. Officers of the student organization concerned and the faculty adviser will be consulted by the Student Senate Committee on Student Organizations and given a opportunity to discuss the problem. B. If withdrawal of recognition seems in order, an official statement recommending that recognition be withdrawn, approved by the Senate, will be sent to the Office of Student Affairs for action. C. The student organization in question will have an opportunity to appeal any decision made to the Committee on Student Life. D. Official written notification of withdrawal of recognition will be sent to the local representatives of the organization, the faculty adviser, the national office (if one is involved) , the department sponsoring the organization the Auditor of Student Organizations Fund, the Director of Space Assignment and Utilization and the Iowa Union. X. University Directory List of Student Organizations. Only officially recognized and registered student organizations will be listed in the organizations section of the University Directory. XI. Student Organization Accounts. All student organizations are required to handle their funds and financial transactions through the University Business Office. See Chapter IX for details. XII. Policy on Soliciting, Selling and Distributing on Campus. It is University policy to permit recognized student organizations to solicit volun- [17]
