4. Administer student aid, including scholarships, loan funds, and University employment, on the basis of intellectual ability, scholarship, personal qualities, and financial need without regard to affiliation with any student organization. 5. Confer and consult with available fraternity leaders on the campus and with the adviser to fraternities in the Office of Student Affairs before taking any action affecting fraternity group living and give reasonable notice of any action which is taken to the fraternity groups may adjust themselves accordingly. To facilitate such consultation each fraternity is invited to name one alumnus as a member of an Alumni Interfraternity Committee. III. Pledging, Initiation and Affiliation A. A student on academic or conduct probation may not be pledged, initiated, or affiliated from another chapter. B. Transfer students and upperclassmen may be pledged at any time provided they have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on all college work. Freshman must meet the scholastic criteria established by the Interfraternity Council. C. Pledges who have completed one semester of pledgeship (minimum 12 semester hours) with a 2.0 semester G.P.A and a 2.0 cumulative G.P.A. may be initiated at any time after the close of the semester, providing they are enrolled in the University. Fraternities may initiate pledges only after obtaining a certificate of eligibility from the Office of Student Affairs. Requests for such certificates should be made at least two weeks prior to the date of expected initiation. IV. Membership Lists, Each fraternity must keep at all times in the Office of Student Affairs a current file of its members. pledges and officers. V. Scholarship Requirement for Active Membership. In order to enjoy the benefits of his fraternity each member must maintain a 1.8 cumulative minimum average. Cumulative averages shall be checked at the close of each academic year and used as a basis for determining chapter membership lists for thee academic year beginning the following September. Chapter officers are required to submit their lists of eligible members to the Office of Student Affairs before the opening of school each fall. Members who fail to meet these conditions shall be suspended until they again qualify for active participation in the chapter affairs. Members suspended under this rule shall not be allowed to live in the chapter house nor participate in any of the chapter affairs during the period of suspension. VI. Regulations for Men's Residences. A. CHAPERONS AND HOURS OF ENTERTAINMENT. Women guests may be entertained ONLY In the public areas of men's residences when the housemother or authorized chaperons are present, and within the following schedule: [28]
