over yin asleep this afternoon, t eed with their all-night efforts bu g at any moment to carry on. O seemed as happy as the day itself, only too happy indeed to have the chance of getting at the Heinie. WAR CORRESPONDENT SHOT SEVERE WOUND IN LEFT EYE. From HERBERT BAILEY With The American Army, Friday. Mr. F. Gibbons, the well-known war correspondent of the Chicago Tribune, was rather severely wounded last night by rifle or machine-gun fire while in very close proximity to the fighting on the front. It is thought that he may lose his left eye, while he is also suffering from a scalp wound. Mr. Gibbons is very popular with the correspondents here, and is renowned for his daring. This is at least the third casualty to a journalist while following professional duties on the western front. Mr. H. F. Prevost Battersby, of the Morning Post was wounded in 1916, and M. Serge Basset (Petit Parisien) was killed last year
