19 [[underline]]SEPTEMBER 30, 1907. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E.BARNES. [[underline]]VILLIERS A LEE,Song and Dance:- 13 min. in 1. (cl. 1 1/2) 3 shows. On at 7:19. Two girls who make a good appearance, sing quite well, and dance much better. A surprisingly little three-day act that always makes good. One change of costume to athletic dress. Acrobatic finish got pretty good hand, with a curtain call. [[underline]]CONLTH & STEELE,[[end underline]]Mus. Nov:- 15 min. 3. 3 shows. On at 7:31. Man and woman, a very good little three-a-day act. The girl, dances very well and sings well, and makes good appearance. The musical novelties got a fair hand. Could hold any spot in the three-a-day section. [[underline]]LA PETITE MIGNON[[end underline]],Comedienne:- 12 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 7:46. Small advance hand. Very pleasing little comedienne. Each one of her imitations got very good hand,- Anna Held, Marie Dressler, and particularly Eva Tanguay which was very strongly applauded. Imitation of Geo. M. Cohan was very strongly applauded, getting rousing hand. Seven curtain calls and an encore. AKOUNINE TRIO:- Criticised at end. [[underline]]FRED WALTON & COMPANY[[end underline]], "Cissie's Dream":- 30 min. F.S. open and close in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:10. Well known on the Circuit. Though this act made a good impression, it cannot be said that it went as strong as previously. Walton's work of course, is very artistic and subtle in humor, but his support leaves much to be desired. The part of Cissie and the nurse are not by any means as good as the former artisted in this role. Considering the price, this act falls short of requirements. At $750. it would seem that Mr. Walton could secure the ablest support. Closed fairly strong with curtain call. [[underline]]MARSHALL P. WILDER[[end underline]], Comedian:- 18 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:40. Advance hand. Gave a good deal of his old stuff and some that was new. It all went very well. Good hand at the close, with curtain call. BERTY LEVY;- Criticised at end. [[underline]]BESSIE WYNN[[end underline]]; Vocaliste:- 19 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:18. Good advance hands. Strong applause after each one of her four songs. Close very hearty, and two curtain calls. [[underline]]CRESSY & DAYNE[[end underline]], "Village Lawyer":- 20 min. F. S. 2 shows. on at 9:37. Good advance hand. The act is well known in the circuit. Went just as well as on previous occasions. One of the best of Cressy's Sketches, if not the best. Very good close with curtain call. [[underline]]HOWARD & NORTH[[end underline]], "Those were happy days":- 20 min. in 1 1/2. 2 shows. On at 9:57. Good advance hand. Well known in the Circuit. One of the best of its class, and went as well as ever. Close big, with curtain call. BENT LEVY,:-30 min. F. S. 2 shows. On at 8:58. Well known on the circuit and nothing need be said about it, more than it made good in an important spot. His pictures are skilful and his remarks some times humorous and always pleasing. One of the best picture-acts we have ever played. GENERAL REMARKS:- This is an old favorite show. The press and the public both seem to be pleased with it in spite of the fact that there is no absolutely great novelty. Cressy, Wilder, Wynn and Levy will help to pull business to the house. Donnelly and Rotali were the only people that fell short of expectations, whereas the Kita Banzai Troupe were far superior and make one of the greatest closing-acts in the business.
