PITTSBURG, PA. GRAND OPERA HOUSE OCT. 7th, 07. [[underline]]ZARRELL BROS[[end underline]]- Equilibrists. 3 shows, 10 min. Wood. Very good act-better than any act of the kind I have seen doing three shows. [[underline]]LEMONIER & STERN[[end underline]]-Olio. 12 min. Colored singing, dancing and talking act. Just gets by amont the three a days. Would not care to repeat them. [[underline]]MARSHALL[[end underline]] "The Mystic Hat Juggler". 3 shows. Olio. A very good act in three a day section. [[underline]]BATTY'S BEARS[[end underline]]2 shows. 12 min. This is not a good act and I am sure I never want to repeat it. [[underline]]CORINNE[[end underline]]- 14 min. Singing act introducing mandolin selection. Miss Corinne is very neat and goes very well. However, her salary is entirely too high as we do not figure her name worth anything. [[underline]]SNYDER & BUCKLEY[[end underline]]- 27 min., 10 of which is done in one. Musical comedians. This act goes every well but would be much improved if it was cut down to 17 minutes instead of 27 as they grow very tiresome. [[underline]]EMPIRE CITY QUARTETTE[[end underline]]-27 min., special drop in one. Going big. Cooper, the comedian of the quartette has the audience sing the chorus of "Dearie" and handles them better than any one I have ever seen attempt this sort of thing. The audience go right in for it and enjoy it immensely. As a rule we are opposed to anything of the kind but I do not hesitate to say that in this case it surely helps the act and is a big hit. [[underline]]RICE & PREVOST[[end underline]]-"Bumpty Bum ". 12 min. Full stage. This act is going very well but it does not commence to be the hit it was on former visits here owing, of course, to the fact that so many people are copying their work. [[underline]]MAY IRWIN[[end underline]]- Coon songs. 14 min. in one. I am somewhat disappointed in Miss Irwin. Her opening on Monday afternoon was very bad but at night she improved somewhat- putting in a recitation that helped quite a little. However, she is not to be compared with many coon singers we have had and certainly does not commence with Stella Mayhew. I understand she was x great in the act now being played by her sister Flo[?]. I think if it were possible for her to arrange to get the act and introduce a couple of songs in it she would be much more valuable and would surely make good. [[underline]]WALTER O. KELLY[[end underline]]- 20 min. Olio. "The Virginia Judge". Just as big a hit as ever. [[underline]]BROTHERS PERMANE[[end underline]]-"The Nightengale Courtship". 12 min. Palace. These young men are made up as clowns and do talking and acrobatic work, finishing with a pantomime-"The Nightengale Courtship". This is a very good act-going very big with us. JOHN A.[?] HARRIS.
