(Carl D. Lothrop) Boston Show, Week of Oct. 21 1907. (Monday Oct. 21--Afternoon Show) Overture. 1.30, 6 min. Sperry & Ray. On at 1.38, 16 min full stage, close in 1 2 min; 18 min in all, 3 shows. Man and woman in a little sketch which simply serves to introduce them in several songs. Sparry does a touch boy very well, while Miss Ray is pretty, sings well and dresses very neatly. They are making their close in 1 this week as a favor, and it unquestionably handicaps them. I think the act would get by all right at number two or three in the smaller cities. It is thoroughly O.K. for the continuous houses. De Voie[[?]] Trio. On at 1.36, 11 min, full stage, 3 shows. A corkin-good ring act. Boys have a good appearance and do some clever work. Could open anybody's show. Delmore Sisters. On at 2.07, 17 min, in 1. They attempted their new act here today without notifying anybody. I supposed it was understood they were to do their old act, the one I saw at 125th St. some three weeks ago and the one I expected today. They have been instructed to do their old act the rest of this week. I think they will get by with that. My opinion of this team is that it is worth about $100 and three shows. The costume that one of them wore this afternoon for her final song out-Held anything in the Anna[?] Held show, being composed of green stockings, flesh tights and little else. She will not wear it again in Boston. The Juggling Burkes. On at 2.24, 9 min, in 2. Can close a couple of minutes in 1, if necessary. A rattling good Indian club juggling act. Salary considered, I would as soon have them as the McBanns. Have improved noticeably since last here. O.K. for any old town. Irving Jones. On at 2.33, 17 min, in 1. Jones did better today than I expected, but didn't go anything like the way he used to go some three seasons ago. This is a great town for coons, else I am afraid he would have fallen down. He needs some new stuff, for he has only one new song, the rest of his material being either entirely old, or old with a thin veneer of fresh matter. Donald & Carson. On at 2.30, 15 min special act in 2, 4 min in 1; 19 min in all. They were a little slow in getting the audience this afternoon, but finished very strongly. I think Miss Carson could change her first song to advantage.
