(2) Carletta. On at 3.09, 9 min, full stage, special set. This man is a remarkable contortionist. He opens his act in a novel way and will score anywhere. Great value for the money. Don't open or close your show with him, if you can possibly avoid it. Amelia Summerville. On at 3.18, 17 min, in 1. Got quite an advance reception. Miss Summerville did very well indeed today, better than I dared hope. She is certainly a picture from the front, and has a very taking way with her audience. I do not think, however, that she would be worth her salary in the smaller cities. Arthur Dunn & Marie Glazier. On at 3.35, 10 min, full stage. Dunn received a lot of applause on his entrance, showing that he had not been forgotten, although it is nearly five years since he played the house. I was afraid this act would be little in the lemon line at five hundred, but I do not think so now, judging from the standpoint of the way it went with this afternoon's audience. got many laughs and closed big. Julian Eltinge. On at 3.31, 11 min. Opens in 1 for his first song, second and third songs in 1 1/2; can close in 1, if necessary; in fact, I do not see why he could not do his entire turn in 1, without any detriment. The best act that Eltinge has ever done in this house. His new costume and characters are great. I consider him the best of all female impersonators, for the reason that he gives absolutely no offence and is artistic in every way. The Song Birds. On at 4.02, 28 min, full stage. This act did not make the great big hit I anticipated this afternoon, but I think, nevertheless, it will cause a whole lot of talk and will make good during its engagement. It looked to me today as though the audience expected more singing. It seems a pity to hear but four numbers sung, only the finale bringing out the full strength of the company. I think our evening audience will appreciate this feature much more than those at the matinees. I certainly do not feel that I can use it as a closing feature a second week, although I think it policy to play it two weeks to get full value out of it. Kinetograph. On at 4.30, 20 min. "The Dieppe Circuit", the best picture of an auto race we have ever shown. It is certainly a thriller in spots. It is a cinch to get special newspaper work with this picture. "The Dream of a Rarebit Fiend". We are continually receiving requests to show this picture and find we can do so to advantage at least once a season.
