58. UNION SQUARE CRITICISM-----WEEK OF OCTOBER 28TH, 1907. HERBERT This fellow does a fair act. He plays in different instruments which are supposed to be different things used on the dining table such as plates, knives and forks etc. It makes a good little act to open the show. Went fair. 12 minutes, full stage. Three shows. GILMOUR AND LATOUR. In "Sense and Nonsense." These people do a very neat little act. They open with a little talk, and their singing is only fair. For this spot on the bill it is all right. 14 minutes in one. Three shows. THREE ALVARETTAS Comedy Acrobatic Act. These boys do a very good act. The comedian is fair, and their acrobatic work is very good. Went very well. 11 minutes, full stage. Three shows. GILDA DI MONTOVA Singer. This is a bad act. She has a very poor voice for vaudeville and her stage appearance is poor. She might be all right in an operatic act, but alone she is bad. 11 minutes in one. Three shows. ABDALLAH BROS. European Novelty Acrobats. These three men do a very good act. Their hand balancing work is very good indeed. The comedian is fair, and is sure to make good in any house. 7 minutes, full stage. Two shows. BLACK AND JONES. Colored singers and dancers. These fellows played around and are very well known, and always manages to make good. 11 minutes in one. ECKHOFF AND GORDON. "The Musical Laugh Makers." A very good musical act. The man is very good indeed as a comedian. The act went very well. 24 minutes, full stage and close in one. COUNTESS ROSSI AND PAULA. HIgh-class Vocal Operatic Singers. This is one of the prettiest singing acts I have seen. Countess Rossi is very pretty, and her stage gowns are also pretty. She has a very good voice, and Paula also has a good voice. They open the act with a song by the Countess in which she does a little pantomime work, and Mr. Paula sits in the box and she sings to him, and this part of the act gets quite some laughs. Went very big. 16 minutes, full stage and close in one. EMPIRE CITY QUARTETTE. 29 minutes in one. Went big PAULINETTI AND PIQUO These men do some very good work. The act being a little quiet to close the show for an act of its kind, and I put them up in Marcel's place and let Marcel's pictures close the show. KINETOGRAPH. All very good. NOTE. The show this week is good with one exception, and that is having three acrobatic acts on the bill. I don't know how this happened, evidently an oversight. Reed A. Albee,
