95 NOVEMBER 25, 1907. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. BAILEY & BROWN, Col. S. & D.:- 14 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 7:26.- Man and woman. This is a very good coon act, the girl making a good presentation, sings well and has a sprightly manner. She is as nearly white as you make them, and if she were not accompanied by the colored man in the act, no one would know it. The spoken lines are good, and the songs are well selected and got good applause from the supper crowd. An act that could hold an early place in the two-a-day section with credit. JIM and JENNY JEE, Wire & Cycle:- 14 Min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 7:40. Both performers make a good presentation, particularly the woman, in stunning costume. Begin their act with some expert work on the wire, including jumping over six chairs while on wire. Proceed to some bicycle work also on a wire which gets good hand. Close of the act is not as strong as it might be. Nevertheless a good showy act.- VINIE DALY, Dancer & Voc:- 12 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 7:54. Carries her own drop, green plush, which is very effective. Appears in four changes of costume, all of them very stunning. Sings very well and makes a pretty picture. Her dancing is superb. It is the whole act. It seems as if she had mastered every known step. Each one of them got big applause, and the finish was so strong that the jury would not let her go, but gave her ten curtain calls and brought her back from her dressing-room to respond. A splendid act for a house like this. GENNARO'S BAND:- 29 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 8:06. The same eccentric leader making the same hit as before. Gennaro made a long journey here and was too late to go on in his right place and to get his Venetian drop in the afternoon. However, he made a hit and was compelled to make a little speech. In the evening he was a riot in the balcony. Encore and four curtain calls. An excellent Vaudeville act, combining music with good showmanship. WELCH, MEALY & MONTROSE, "Play Ball":- 16 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:35. Advance hand. This is the same rollicking act that is so well known. Kept the audience in good humor, right up to a strong close. This act could make good as a screamer anywhere. DAN BURKE & SCHOOL GIRLS:- 18 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 8:51. Advance hand. Practically the same act as presented here before, including the barefoot dance, and Burke's reminiscence dances which are novel and enjoyable. The act goes particularly well with evening audiences. Five curtain calls and big hand at the finish. BELLE BLANCHE, Imitations:- 20 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:09. Advance hand. Made same unqualified hit as she did here previously. Included some imitations not in her regular repertoire, and every one got strong hand, with prolonged applause at the finish, and five curtain calls. A strong card for this house. ROBERT HILLIARD & CO., "As a Man Sows":- 27 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:29. Advance hand. Hilliard made just as powerful an impression dramatically as before with his little play. I do not think that his support is quite as strong as on previous occasions. Nevertheless it was all that could be desired. Held the most intense attention throughout, and won immense hand, with five curtain calls, at the finish. Sure to prove brilliant feature for balance of the week. stunning circus costume. Use an inclined board and the two women roll up the incline on globes. On reaching the supports, hold ends of a slack wire in their teeth while the man performs some difficult feats. Received good hand and are entitled to a good spot on any bill. BROOKS & JEANETTE:-18 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:53. Man and woman. Woman works straight, the man eccentric booby. Outside of the woman's vocal work this is a very poor act. The man has not much of a sense of humor and his material is poor. The girl saves the act by being sprightly and a good dancer and vocaliste. Only a few scattered laughs, and the close was weak. Moved from opener to supper show. OWLEY & RANDALL:-15 min. in 2. 3 shows. On at 7:11. This is an ordinary juggling act. Received some little applause for some of the good work. Wind up their act with some crockery-smashing that gets few laughs. Finished with mild applause. GENERAL REMARKS:- This is a strong Holiday show, with plenty of music, humor and spectacular features. The press is bubbling over with [???] things to say about it and there is no doubt about its winning [???] a Holiday crowd.-
