Phila. #2. EMPIRE CITY FOUR:- 31 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:56. Advance hand. Three work straight, one in Hebrew character, with only slight make-up. This is undoubtedly one of the very best quartettes in Vaudeville. Every one of the voices is good enough for solo work, and their ensemble singing is a treat. More than that, the comedy part is very original and keeps the crowd in roars of laughter. The finishing feature, in which the Hebrew comedian gets the audience singing, "Bye, Bye, Dearie" with the aid of a stereoptican and screen, was rich enough in humor to rob it of its advertising objections, although it is a great adv. for Von Tilzer. URBANI & SON, Athletic:- 8 min. F. S. 2 shows. On at 10:27. The work of this man and boy is very much like that of the Uessems. The boy's work is without doubt the cleverest of any that has ever been seen here for a lad of his age. Everyone of their feats got strong applause. The simplicity of the act is one of its charms, as there is nothing of the circus about it, but purely in the high class athletic field. The boy will be talked about. Closed very well. HUMAN FLAGS:- 15 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 10:35. Had we not seen Bryan and his original girls in this act, we would be more favorabley impressed with it; but it must be admitted that this new act does not stand comparison. Not that it is not a good act, because it is, but it lacks the spirit and musicianal training as previously presented here, and the man who takes Bryan's roles of the world's rulers is far short of the original. The flag novelty and the hurrah finish saves it as a closer. KINETOGRAPH:- ROUMANIA:-Interesting travel series/ HORSE THAT ATE THE BABY:- Rather amusing comedy film. IN SEVILLE:-Another good travel series. Altogether the KINETOGRAPH display suffers by comparison with last week's when we had PAUL REVERE'S RIDE, which got applause, which this film would not get. GOLTZ TRIO:- 8 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:45. This is a very showy act with a Continental flavor. Two women and a man, all appearing in very stunning circus costume. Use an inclined board and the two women roll up the incline on globes. On reaching the supports, hold ends of a slack wire in their teeth while the man performs some difficult feats. Received good hand and are entitled to a good spot on any bill. BROOKS & JEANETTE:-18 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:53. Man and woman. Woman works straight, the man eccentric booby. Outside of the woman's vocal work this is a very poor act. The man has not much of a sense of humor and his material is poor. The girl saves the act by being sprightly and a good dancer and vocaliste. Only a few scattered laughs, and the close was weak. Moved from opener to supper show. OWLEY & RANDALL:-15 min. in 2. 3 shows. On at 7:11. This is an ordinary juggling act. Received some little applause for some of the good work. Wind up their act with some crockery-smashing that gets few laughs. Finished with mild applause. GENERAL REMARKS:- This is a strong Holiday show, with plenty of music, humor and spectacular features. The press is bubbling over with [???] things to say about it and there is no doubt about its winning [???] a Holiday crowd.-
