105 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of December 2, 1907. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill as a whole is not as strong as I expected, principally because the feature act is not up to what it really should be from the standpoint of an act of that kind. In that way the bill as a whole is rather weakened because of the cost of the headline act necessitating the cheapening of the rest of the show somewhat. Gates & Nelson. Well-known revolving globe, acrobatic, comedy act which is all right for an unimportant spot. 12 Min. Full Stage, 3 Shows. Phil Bennett. Italian Street Singer. This man has a very nice voice, sings a couple of songs in Italian dialect and a yodling song which went very well indeed. Very good 3-a-day act. 10 Min. in 1, 3 Shows. Mozarto. Instrumentalist, playing upon two instruments at one time. Rather a novelty that pleases too for this point of the bill. 10 Min. in 1, 3 Shows. Alexis & Schall. Lively little act, principal feature of which is some very good contortion work by the man. All right for 3 Shows. 10 Min. in 2. Tom Moore. Coon shouter. Mr. Moore didn't do as well as on previous occasions, principally because he has identically the same songs that he gave us last year and at least one that he sang three years ago. 13 Min. in 1, 3 Shows. Harry & Kate Jackson. Rural farce. Kitchen scene, lot of fun in the old-fashioned way with bread dough, etc, and a little plot. Lively as a whole and pleased at this point. All right for an early 2-a-day section. 20 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows. Leroy & Woodford. Well-known talking act and to my mind the man is one of the best. Some of the material is new, some old, but it all went in good style. 21 Min. in 1, 2 Shows. Batty's Bears. Very pleasing act, better than I expected. 12 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows. Leo Carrillo. Chinese stories and vocal imitations. Good act. 10 Min. in 1, 2 Shows. Klein-Ott Bros. & Nicholson. Straight musical act. All these men are good instrumentalists and the act pleased. 20 Min. open Full Stage, Close in 1, about 3 Min. 2 Shows. Hayes & Johnson. On account of one of their trunks going astray they were unable to go on. Robinson Crusoe's ISLE. As I said at the beginning, this act lacks strength. Mr. Lasky is entitled to credit for his efforts in making the production and spending the money that he has. At the same time there is no doubt that the act is not satisfactory. The men are all clever and the women bad, especially the leading woman. The music is not good excepting for "The Pirate King's Song" and the comedy is very bad - neither is the story well told. The act should have been pulled off in the early part of the season and rewritten. 23 Min. Full Stage, and did not go well with the audience at the finish. Quinn & Mitchell. Talking act. these men have a new idea, one a Land Agent the other an old Irishman. The stuff is clever and they deliver it well. I consider it among our best talking acts in 1, 20 Min. 2 Shows. Pichianni Troupe. Men and women, acrobats. Well-known. the act held its own as usual. 10 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows.
