DECEMBER 2, 1907. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. WILLE HALE, Parlor Pastimes:- 15 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows. On at 7:07. Has Boy with him. Have practiced every juggling trick that he has seen Cinquevalli and Salerno do that is within his range. Hale does club-swinging, also works with billiard balls, cues, and hoops, and his rolling around on a globe lends the only comedy there is to the act. Received some scattered hands for his work. Both the boy and the Man missed repeatedly in the afternoon. The close in, when the little fellow gives xylophone solo, gets good hand, with curtain call. A fair act for an early spot in the two-a-day section.- SLATER & WILLIAMS, Col. S. & D.:- 15 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 7:22. Two colored men. Good act. One works comedy in grotesque make-up, blacker than nature made him. Both sing pretty well. Dancing made quite a hit. Closed very well, with curtain call. This act could hold a spot anywhere in the three-a-day section. GENNARO'S BAND:- Second Week:- 30 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 7:37. Advance hand. Introduces some new selections, all of which went well. Closed strong as usual with patriotic flourish.- JAMES HARRIGAN: Tramp Juggler:- 18 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:07. Advance hand. Same old make-up and tricks, but his line of talk is rich in humor, in fact, his monologue is a scream and gets laughter and applause from all parts of the house. EDWARD CLARK and WINNING WIDOWS:-26 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 8:25. This act is much improved since its last offering here. The girls work in two changes of costume, both of them very effective. Clark gives his recitation, "The Piker", which went well. The kiss song got a good many laughs and the close was fairly strong. Carry their own drop with racing scene. KEMP'S TALES OF THE WILD:-19 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:51. This is a unique and pretty feature for any house. The pictures are beautiful, giving various dioramic and panoramic effects. Kemp works the pictures, while his wife does the talking, with a fairly good delivery. Different from anything ever shown here, and got applause throughout, with a good closing hand. WILLIAM COURTLEIGH & CO: in "Peaches":- 32 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:10. Advance hand. Second time this clever sketch has been offered here. It is unnecessary to say that, presented in the same way by the same people, it went very strong. It closed with big hand and six curtain calls. It is one of the best of Hobart's sketches, presented in a manner entirely worthy of it. ETHEL LEVEY:- 17 min. Open in 1. goes to 2, with piano, then closes in 1. Advance hand. On at 9:42. The opening song was a new one and clever. The song that she gives with the piano accompaniment was exceedingly well done, including a lot of imitations. Each song and verse went quite well, and the close in one was likewise. Miss Levey should draw some money to the house for the balance of the week, but she falls far short of big headline requirements. At a figure two or three hundred dollars less, she DeCHAUNT'S DOGS:- 10 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:40. Practically the same act as presented here before. Four fox terriers doing several stunts, including regulations somersault, high jump, etc., combined with De Chaunt's acrobatic work. Good act for an early spot. INNES & RYAN:- 17 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:50. Man and woman, making fair presentation. Have poor line of talk. three changes of costume. Got only small closing hand. GENERAL REMARKS:-Of course, coming after the tremendous holiday bill of last week, this show seems something like a settling down. However, there were no complaints on that score, and whereas the press and the public realized that we could not keep up the jubilee pace of last week, the bill is nevertheless, as one of the papers said, "a big money's worth."-- 2.
