113. (Carl D. Lothrop) Boston Show, Week of December 2, 1907. (Monday Dec. 2--Afternoon Show.) Overture. 1.31, 8 minutes. Kennard Brothers. On at 1.39, 9 min, full stage, 3 shows. Comedy acrobatic act, up to the average of the 80-100 dollar turns. No striking novelties, simply an also-ran. Bailey and Fletcher. On at 1.48, 13 min, in 1; 3 shows. Very good two-men coon act. Plenty of life and action in the way of songs and dances. Would hold number two spot almost anywhere. Dixon Brothers. On at 2.01, 10 min, full stage, 4 min close in 1; 14 min in all. A musical com. act of the old school. In fact it has been so long since we have had one of these acts that it seemed almost like a novelty. Did all right in this spot. Their concertina playing will carry them through. Think that their price, $175, is from $25-30 too strong. However, I would not make a holler at $150. Chris Bruno and Mable Russell. On at 2.15, 15 min full stage, 5 min close in 1; 20 min in all. From Bruno's appearance and his work I am afraid it is only a question of a very short time before he is compelled to quit, for his physical condition is very bad. Although Miss Russell does her best to hold the act up, still the snap that Bruno used to put into it, particularly his exceedingly good eccentric dancing, is sadly missed. I would not be surprised to have him break down at any show while here. Macarte Sisters. On at 2.35, 15 min, full stage. Could open in 1, 2 or 3 minutes, if necessary. Well known act that is just as pleasing as ever. They make an attractive appearance and all of their stunts went well this afternoon. Do not care to repeat for a couple of years, however. Meredith Sisters. On at 2.50, 5 min open in 1, 8 min full stage, 5 min close in 1. 18 min in all. Went fairly well this afternoon. If ever there were two swell-headed dingies in show business, this is the pair. It is about time they saw the handwriting on the wall. They are more presuming than any stars that I can call to mind. We shall be very happy to say "Fare thee" to them. Agnes Scott and Horace Wright. On at 3.08, 24 min, full stage. Playing Miss Scott's playlet "The Wall Between", one of the daintiest, prettiest offerings of the season. We were certainly fortunate to have had the chance to secure the only open week they have the season. I can hardly say enough in praise of Miss Scott's cleverness. While Wright does not compare with his partner in ability, still he pleases with both his songs and his acting. Strength"; very good comedy film. Bruno and Russell. Cut "She slept alone in the garret" squib. Brooks and Jeanette. Reference to "company's coming" and subsequent scratching. Marie Lloyd: Requested to cut "They keep them in flats" verse in "Customs of the Country" song. Comment. I consider this a very good show indeed, but feel that the business will depend largely on whether or not Lloyd catches on with the Bostonians.
