#2-Phila. RAIN-DEARS:- 15 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:07. In spite of the fact that Louise Montrose takes the leading part, it did not go as strong as I expected. Think it will run smoother and bring out better applause after a day or two. The important feature of the act, the rainfall at the close, did not seem to arouse any great enthusiasm. However, considering that it is so pretentious an act and so much expected of them, it got by all right HIBBERT & WARREN:- 14 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:22. This blackface act consisting of trick piano-playing and eccentric dancing, was a hit. The act is rich in comedy and got the house strong, particularly the dancing which won four curtain calls, and compelled Warren to make a little speech. Good act in one for any spot on the bill when an act in one is [need?] FIVE PIROSCOFFI'S:- 12 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:36. Well known on the Circuit. One of the best of the European comedy juggling acts, being beautifully costumed, swift in action and artistic. Many new feats. There is not an idle moment on the part of any of the performers. Valuable act on any bill. First part of the act went very badly to-day, as they missed constantly, but pulled up later and closed well. LILLIAN SHAW:- 16 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:48. Miss Shaw started out rather tame, but she gathered strength as she went along and finally caught the crowd very strong. Her act consisted of some of her old songs and character imitations and some new ones, all in grotesque costume. Good hand after each one of her selections. Closed well with curtain call. THOMPSON'S ELEPHANTS:-21 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 10:04. Five elephants and a dog, all of them remarkably well trained. A genuine hit. Do regulation stunts and a great many that are more adapted to a Vaudeville stage than to the Circus, such as putting baby to sleep, working the telephone, etc. The shaving feat is the funniest thing ever, in which one elephant lathers and shaves another in a manner that is ludicrous. This is one of the best animal acts I have ever seen. The closing feat of turning somersault gets big hand. Also the gun-drill and sword play. As a children's act this can scarcely be beat. KINETOGRAPH:- WOULD-BE CHAMPION:-One of the funniest comedy films we have had for a long time. POTTERY-MAKING IN JAPAN:- Very interesting. THE BATHERS' RAGE:- Fairly good comedy. Altogether the KINETOGRAPH series is above the average. LORO & Payne:-12 min. 3 shows. On at 6:36. Put on in the last minute to fill in time. Good three-a-day act and went same as before. HAGAN & PRESTCOTT:- 13 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:48. Man and woman, making good appearance. Line of talk is rather weak, but vocal work makes good. If these people exploited better line of talk, their act would be valuable. GENERAL REMARKS:-With some shifting and re-arrangement this bill plays off very well. The "Missouri Jury" was impanelled for fair on Monday after noon and would could gotten scarcely less applause out of them had we distributed hand-cuffs with the programs. However, in the evening, it pulled up stronger and somewhat lightened the hearts of the performers, so that they did better. On a whole, it is a good average bill, and just about suits this interregnum period between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
