152 Columbus show week Dec. 30, '07. C.A. [Wikoff?]. JAMES & JENNIE JEE. 15 mins. Garden. A neatly dressed and staged act. Moved along nicely, but created no great furor. A good opening act, but the woman adds little. VERNON. 17 mins. C.D.F. Was given a reception on first appearance, being remembered from last season. Act same as last season but went well. Good applause all through. Fitted nicely. Closed in 1. MARZELLA'S BIRDS. 24 mins. Palace. while not a riot, the act caused many laughs and finished strong. Will undoubtedly draw business by pleasing the ladies and children. WORLD & KINGSTON. 25 mins. Special. in 1. Were given a good hand on first appearance, having been on our opening bill last season. While act is the same it went big and finished strong with two forced bows. THE RAIN DEARS. 15 mins. Special. While this act seemed to please the house this afternoon there is a sameness all through it that was remarked upon. Four songs with chorus dancing tells the story. The scenic effects were good and there was liberal applause, but several other numbers made a bigger hit. The finish in the rain took well with the house. Personally the act was a disappointment. (Full stage.) AVERY & HART. 19 mins. Street in 1. Strong applause on first appearance, and the act was the laughing hit of the bill. While the act is the same all through as last season the audience this afternoon fairly ate it up and the finish was good. They lift the comedy portion of the bill nicely. PICTURES. Have been seen in this house before and more than the usual number of the audience left before the final curtain. DARRAS BROS. 10 mins. Garden. This is one of the best hand balancing and equilibrist acts seen here. Their work is done so quietly and with so little effort that many did not appreciate what they were seeing. Still they received good applause and close the show in good shape (Pictures follow, not preceed this act.) NOTE. To break a stage wait it was necessary to show part of the pictures between the acts of the Jees and Vernon.
