Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence. R. I., Week of January 6, 1907. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill is by no means up to the standard that we have set this season. A few years ago it might have been considered all right, but is hardly to be called up-to-date vaudeville. Sartella. Man does shadowgraphs, little crayon drawing and a little magic. Makes a very acceptable 3-a-day turn and at the price is decidedly worth playing in the continuous houses. Changing his act around a little bit could close in one. At present 15 Min. Full Stage 3 Shows. Rado & Bertman. Well-known sketch in which the best works falls upon the man and the most work upon the woman who is decidedly bad. Sketch didn't hold up as well as on previous visits. 15 Min. Open in 3, close in 1, 3 Shows. John Lorenz. One of the old-timers who comes along with a very good offering in the early section. Would be all right for No. 2 on the bill in the smaller 2-a-day houses. Did very well for us here. 12 Min. in 1, 3 Shows. Shields & Rogers. Lasso experts, lasso and rope work. Seems to have lost its interest for our patrons, altho this act is quite a good one. 10 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows. Bergere Sisters. Two rather attractive young women, one of which has a particularly good voice. They offer a very good act in a way altho hardly out of the 3-a-day class for our house. All right for No. 2 on the bill in most of the 2-a-day houses. I booked them for three shows here altho very much against their desire. 15 Min. in 1, 3 Shows. Mr. & Mrs. Gene Hughes. As Boston said last week this is an exceptionally good sketch, but it is not played well at all and didn't get a tremendous amount of enthusiasm from the audience at yesterday's performances. 23 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows. Werden & Taylor. Illustrated songs. Miss Taylor has a very pleasing personality and dresses in exceedingly good taste. Their songs are good and illustrations, the best we ever had in the theatre. In houses where illustrated songs are appreciated, this act should go very well. 12 Min. in 1, 2 Shows. Reiff Bros. Singing and dancing, principally dancing. Very unusual sort of an act which the audience liked very much. 12 Min. in 1, 2 Shows. Americus Comedy Four. One of the usual knock-about "four" acts with a little singing interspersed. The act didn't get the great number of laughs here that have been ascribed to it in other houses. To my mind it is rather mediocre. 18 Min. open Full Stage, close in 1, 2 Shows. Valadon. Unquestionably the best magician we ever had in the theatre, but I am afraid that big magician acts have not the attractions they used to have, altho this man pleased decidedly. 24 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows. Eva Tanguay. This was the one bright spot in the whole show. Miss Tanguay certainly made good. She got a tremendous amount of applause, there is lots of talk about her, and she will draw us what money we get this week, in spite of the fact that she went into a terrible tantrum about her music after yesterday's performance, but last night she seemed quite appeased and said we were the nicest people ever. 18 Min. in 1, 2 Shows. Dolan & Lenharr. Sketch, "Taking Chances." There is no question of the 163
