Report on Columbus, Show Week Jany. 6TH. -- 08. --- W. W. Prosser. MINNIE KAUFMANN: Lady cyclist. -- She makes a very pleasing appearance and performs a usual routine of tricks which were well received. -- Nothing especially new about her work but it is all well executed and for an opener the act did very well. -- Finished fairly strong. 11 minutes Garden. CLARK, BERGMAN & MAHONEY: Three lively young people, two men, one woman, singing and dancing act. -- Neatly dressed. -- Not much as singers and the act looked like a falldown until the dancing was introduced when things brightened up and they got away nicely at the finish. -- 12 minutes, street. CHINKO: A young juggler who was unfortunate this afternoon in missing many of his tricks, due no doubt to the fact that he has been laying off and must have been out of practice. -- He was so good natured about his misses however that he finally got the audience with him and it entered into the spirit of the situation and laughed both at and with him. -- No doubt this fellow is clever, in fact he demonstrated as much and finally got things coming after a very hard fight. 11 minutes palace. BILLY VAN: The same old Billy with the same old material, but in justice to him it must be said that he was the laughing hit of the bill and made good in every way. -- I was thoroughly convinced that he would make good and was not disappointed in him. WM. H. THOMPSON & CO: Sketch: "For Love's Sweet Sake." -- Rather a long drawn out affair and one that looked badly during the early portion. Finally interest seemed to be aroused and at the finish the act was given a fairly good hand. -- I don't look for much from it however if all of our patrons during the week are as cold as thoses of this afternoon were. Mr. Thompson placed himself at somewhat of a disadvantage by speaking very rapidly and facing up stage a la Mrs. Fiske. -- His work suffered some for this reason. -- C. D. F. 24 minutes. HAWTHORNE & BURT: Two men in a talking act that fooled all of us. -- For quite a while it looked as though they were not going to go at all and all at once they got them coming and finished strong. -- Their dance made a distinct hit and the bit of pathos with the comedy finish caused a rousing laugh. Olio 14 minutes. ROSSI MUSICAL HORSE: A trained animal that is good to look upon and one that performs his portion of the work in a very satisfactory manner. There is nothing wonderful about the act. -- It finished fairly strong but that is about all. 14 minutes Terrace. PICTURES: Mother In Law Is An Angel -- Universal Winter Sports. Comment: The show is short, and looks small. -- While it does not really drag it seems to lack life and at no time does it seem to have the audience more than fairly interested. 171
