180. Temple Detroit. Jan. 13, 1908. [RIGOLETTO?] BROS. Two good-looking young men doing hand balancing, and working on the balancing ladder. An act that is not out of the ordinary but does excellently as an opening act. 12 min. FS. HERBERT & WILLING. An old-time blackface singing, dancing and talking act with but little to recommend it in this day of modern vaudeville. But in this particular spot in the bill it does very well and gets by in pretty good shape. 14 min. in one. DE WITT, BURNS & TORRANCE. Presenting "The Awakening of Toys." Although this is a very good act from every standpoint its novelty has been worn off for this theater, and it has ceased to have much value here. This act with the two acts mentioned received very little applause. 13 min. FS. DORA RONCA. Violinist, dressed in gaudy gypsy costume. She is good looking, and plays very well, and from the standpoint of applause was the big hit of the bill. At both performances Monday she received five curtain calls. 14 min. in one. "POLLY PICKLES PETS." Joe Hart has kept this act right up to the high standard of last season. The principal female part is now in the hands of Daisy Leon who does quite as well as Eulalie Young. The other parts are practically in the same hands, and the act itself was just as big a hit as last season. 24 min. FS. SMITH & CAMPBELL. I consider this the best talking act in the business. They brought fresh goods here and all of it was snappy, crisp and free from vulgarity. They got plenty of laughs all through their dialogue and at the finish received two curtain calls. 18 min. in one. W. C. FIELDS. This comedy juggler has not been here in a long time, and although we had a star juggling act last week, and a juggling act the week before that Fields carried off the palm for applause. although he cannot be compared to Salerno for artistic finish. Fields work appeals to everybody, and he was a decided and emphatic hit. 13 min. FS. Can close in one about two minutes. ROSSI'S HORSE "EMIR." This musical equine closed the bill proper in excellent shape. His work is the same as when last here and he made the same excellent impression. 13 min. FS. KINETOGRAPH. Our pictures this week show some of the famous dogs at the N. Y. bench show. There is no question but that they were of considerable interest to the vast majority of our audiences.
