(2) May Irwin. On at 3.23, open full stage 11 min, close in 1, [??] min, 37 min in all. I was fearful of Miss Irwin, owing to the reports from the other houses, but she showed she has a strong hold on Bostonians, for she scored a very big hit this afternoon, and it looks as though she will draw very well throughout her engagement. Winston's Sea Lions. On at 3.40, 18 min, full stage, special set. A truly great act. Although they are not as many in number as in the Webb or the Woodward act, Winston's quintet do work that I have never seen done by other sea lions or seals, particularly the riding stunt. James J. Morton. On at 3.58, 15 min, in 1. Although it is only eight weeks since Morton was here before, and we would not have given him a return so soon had it been possible to find anything else to fill this spot, I must acknowledge that he went as well as ever. He is certainly a big favorite with our patrons. Camille Trio. On at 4.13, 6 min, full stage. This well-known comedy acrobatic act scored as big as ever, and made a great finish for the main show. Kinetograph. On at 4.19, 24 min. "Adventures of an Overcoat"; pretty good comic. "The Dog and his Various Merits"; a highly interesting picture. "The Woman Doctor's Husband"; fair comic. Maybelle Meeker. On at 4.43, 9 min, full stage, 3 shows. Rather a pretty girl with considerable magnetism. She does an act that is a sort of combination of those of Belle Veola and Latina. Shows a fine figure when she strips to tights. Would gladly give her a better spot if possible. No question but what she would make good in number one or number two in the smaller houses. Lemonier and Brown. On at 4.52, open in 1, 3 min, 7 min full stage, 4 min close in 1; 14 min in all; 3 shows. Two coons, both of them singers and dancers, and one of whom is a fairly good ragtime piano player. Stereotyped act of the kind. All right as a 3-a-day. Zano. On at 5.06, 14 min, full stage; 3 shows. A very good magician. Comment. The audience seemed to like the show today better than I did, for to my mind it is not an ideal program in many ways. Still, the finish is strong, the last hour and a half being full of good things, and the whole show moves smoothly. I look for Miss Irwin to do a big business for us this week. No cuts.
