Phila. 2. PAUL LE CROIX, "The Man with the Hats":- 10 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:19 This man is very expert with the hats and only lacks a little comedy to make his act very strong. Is the most skilful manipulator of the hats ever seen in Vaudeville. Finished well with curtain call. STALEY'S TRANSFORMATION:- 13 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:29. this is a repetition of Staley's old blacksmith shop act in modified form, only more perfected and mystifies the crowd thoroughly with its mechanical wonders. It is an elaborate production and whereas the musical features introduced might be of a higher order, the transformation carries the surprise needed to make an excellent Vaudeville feature. VESTA VICTORIA:- 30 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:42. Good advance hand. Sang four songs, in different costume, each one with good effect. I think on the whole that she went better than previously and that she will help fill the house this week. The first part of her act seemed a little doubtful, but she gathers strength as she goes on, winding up with a big finish In fact, her last song was quite an ovation. THE NOVELLOS, Circus-act:- 13 min. in F.S. On at 10:12. All that has been said of this act goes with a strong endorsement. The elephants, ponies, and dogs are all remarkably trained, and the act moved with a real circus-like rapidity and sureness. The elephants do everything that it is possible for elephants to do, and the acrobatic work is up to the true circus stand. Open and close with a real show parade. Great act. KINETOGRAPH:- ROLLER SKING CRAZE:- Very funny indeed. ELEPHANTS IN INDIA:- Good short film with good laughable finish. WITCH'S SECRET:- Rather fantastic, but gets by. THE MEDAL WINNER:- Good comedy film. ALICE De GARMO, Acro:- 10 min. F.S. On at 6:50. Three shows. Works on a fantastic ladder with trapeze attachment. Does a disrobing act while suspended by her teeth. Is a pretty girl and gets good applause for clever work. CHAS. & NETTIE KING:- 12 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 7:00. This is a good little act, although they are no longer kids as they advertise themselves. The girl is particularly fetching in becoming costume. They sing well. GENERAL REMARKS:- This is a very strong show. VESTA VICTORIA is making good and LADDIE CLIFF is a surprise with our crowd. Business is big and will doubtless remain so for the balance of the week.
