217 FEBRUARY 10, 1908. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. JACK LORENZ, Eccentric Dancing Humorist:- 12 min. in 1. On at 7:02. Fair line of talk, eccentric dancing particularly good. Could hold an obscure spot. GORMAN & WEST, "A Special Meeting":- 16 min. in 2, close in 1. On at 7:14. Rather an amusing, quiet little sketch worthy a modest place on the bill. Practically the same as when here before. Fair hand at close, one curtain call. MAX TOURBILLON TROUPE, Bicyclists:- 10 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 7:35. Three men and three women. The bicycle work is of the regulation kind, but the acrobatic work is quite extraordinary and includes some good tumbling. The finish of the act on the double stairs is very effective and got a strong closing hand. NETTA VESTA, Vocaliste:- 9 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 7:45. Very pretty girl, singing well and making good appearance. Held down this modest spot very acceptably. HOWARD TRUESDELL & CO. "Two Men and a Bottle":- 22 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 7:54. About the same as when presented here before. Scored good laughter throughout and good closing hand. HAL MERRITT, "Poster Girl Mono":- 19 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:16. This man is quite a show in himself. He draws amusing poster pictures, meanwhile delivering some corking good stories and jokes, imitates phonographs and autos, and also whistles and sings. Held the attention of the audience throughout. Won considerable laughter and applause. Finish was strong, with two curtain calls. LAMBERTI, Imper. of Music-Composers:- 21 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:35. This man is certainly a genius in versatility. He plays on the violin, Piano, and 'cello with equal musicianly skill. His impersonations of the different composers were warmly applauded and his character make-up adds to the interest of the act. It pleased all parts of the house, Good closing hand, two curtain calls. THE NOVELLOS, Circus-act:- Second week. 13 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 8:56. Made the same hit it did last week. It is brilliant and showman-like in every particular. As a children's feature cannot be too highly recommended. RAYMOND & CAVERLY, "Wizards of Joy":- 17 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:09. German comedians. Advance hand. Well known pair who have a new line of good humor. Laughs were constant and the finish with the burlesque opera and butterfly dance was big. Their usual big hit. FLO IRWIN & COMPANY, "Mrs. Peckham's Carouse":- 27 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:26. Advance hand. This sketch is written in George Ade's best vein. The act has been fully described elsewhere. Flo Irwin gets all there is out of it, and her sudden change from a straight-laced temperance advocate to an aristocratic inebriate was an artistic piece of work and brought down the house. There is nothing in the act that the staunchest temperance [LASTOY?] BROTHERS, Comedy acro:- 10 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:52. One works straight and the other eccentric. Use table, chairs and barrel. Knockabout comedy with some good acrobatic work. THE BRITTONS, Col. S. & D.:- 12 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:40. Man and woman making good presentation and giving an acceptable song-and-dance act that could hold a fairly good spot on the bill. GENERAL REMARKS:- An excellent show from every standpoint. Patrons expressed themselves better pleased than with last week's show, even with Vesta Victoria and Laddie Cliff. It should pull strong with the crowd for the balance of the week. An improvement in the orchestra had the effect of making more brilliant the musical features.-
