23 Philadelphia B. F. Keith's July 14 9 Kinograms & "Topics of the Day" - Pictures and paragraphs just a fair average. Black & White - (7 mins.) Two girls in an acrobatic act in special setting. Good routine of tricks, well handled, and did very well in the opening spot. Demarest & Doll - (15 mins.) Some very good piano playing by the man brought this act several good hands. The comedy is only fair and the girl got very little out of her dancing. Act closed only fair. Helen Gleason, "Stateroom 19" - (14 mins.) A very good comedy sketch played by two people. It repeated very well having been shown here last season. Contains good lines and situations, which got lots of laughs and finished to a good hand. Irving Fisher - (14 mins.) Having appeared here last season with Nora Bayes he was given a very warm welcome and sang four numbers with good results. He is accompanied by a pianist. Closed to a very good hand. MacCarton & Marrone - (9 mins.) This is a local act and a clever pair of dancers. Aside from their value as a local feature their dancing is excellent. The whirlwind number done at the finish brought a big outburst of applause and they finished very strong. George Austin Moore - (18 mins.) Attired in Over Seas League uniform he told a series of stories in negro dialect and sang two or three songs, getting a lot of laughs and putting all his stuff over in excellent shape. He was a big applause hit. Harry Watson, Jr. - (19 mins.) This act repeated in great shape, keeping the audience in a roar of laughter from start to finish and closing very big. Venita Gould - (20 mins.) One of the biggest hits of the show in a series of imitations of well known stage stars ranging from musical comedy to dramatics. The majority of her numbers were very true to life and every one of them scored. She was compelled to make a speech after taking several bows. Four Sensational Boises - (8 mins.) A woman and three men, one of the latter doing comedy. A very fine casting act with a lot of showy material well done and did exceptionally well in the closing spot. General remarks - This show opened very good before a big house and worked into an excellent bill. Venita Gould and George Austin Moore changed places after the first show in order to separate Fisher and Moore and to give more time for a setting.
