PHILADELPHIA B.F. KEITH'S AUGUST 4th 9 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Up to the usual average. FELIX & FISHER - (8 mins.) Did very well as an opener with a mixture of horizontal bar tricks and comedy. The girl assists the man and also does a little stepping. LEON VARVARA - (13 mins.) He puts over a good big applause hit in this early spot, being compelled to take a couple of extra bows. He varies his piano playing with a song, and has a very good routine of selections. JASON & HAIG - (16 mins). Very pretty singing and dancing act and a big applause hit. It is one of the best of its kind we have played in sometime and was quickly appreciated by the audience, closing to a very big hand. It is prettily staged and costumed. BERT FITZGIBBON - (17 mins.) Just as big a laughing hit as ever with about the same sort of "nut" stuff that he has always used. A girl works with him in the act for the first time and was a help. The act got over in very good shape, closing strong. HELEN TRIX & SISTER - (13 mins.) Always a very good act here. The girls have a lot of class, good songs and got a lot out of them. They have some new numbers this time, with one of two of their old songs. Registered solidly and closed to a big hand. MOSCONI BROS. & CO. - (9 mins.) As was expected these boys cleaned up with their dancing. It was the first appearance of the girl in the act in their home town but aside from what they got on their local reputation they were a tremendous hit in their dancing, closing to a riot of applause. The opening song number is not well done and should be dropped. EDDIE BORDEN - Despite the fact that he followed Bert Fitzgibbon his "nut" comedy got over with lots of laughs and the act went over big all the way, closing strong. (21 mins.) STELLA MAYHEW - (23 mins.) Always a great favorite here she was given a cordial welcome and her songs went big. She sang all new ones and with a little talk mixed in was a big applause hit. For a finish she brought on Eddie Borden and his assistant and they did a lot of clowning, closing to a big hand. MANG & SEYDER - (5 mins.) This is one of the very best hand to hand acts we play and repeated the hit registered here on their former tricks. Routine somewhat different from others with some very striking tricks. Closed to a big round of applause. GENERAL REMARKS - A great Summer show with plenty of comedy, music and "pep". It opened fine with a big house and promises a big week. CUTS BERT FITZGIBBON- Use of the words "God knows" "God's sake" and imitating snuffing dope
