PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S AUGUST 18, 9 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Pictures up to the usual average. "Topics" unusually good. MISS LILLIAN & TWINS - A very good looking hand-to-hand and gymnastic act by two men and a woman. They have a lot of new stuff, all well handled. Did very well in the opening spot. ( 7 mins.) CAHILL & ROMAINE - (16 mins.) Comedy singing turn by two men, one black-face and the other Italian make-up. The comedy is only fair but the singing carried them off to a good sized applause hit. One of the men is a rather remarkable soprano. Closed very strong. JACK KENNEDY & CO. - (23 mins.) in "A Golf Proposal" - A very pretty one-act comedy playlet with plenty of laughing lines and situations. It is well played by four persons and was very well received. It is nicely staged and different from any previous sketch we have played. It made a very good act in this bill. RAE SAMUELS - (14 mins.) She stopped the show long enough for the applause to bring her back for a little speech, after doing five songs. Not all of them are new but the way she puts them over made a big hit with the audience. She could have stayed as long as she wanted. ERNEST EVANS & GIRLS - (20 mins.) A very pretty and varied dance offering, full of color, action and good music. It will stand comparison with any act of its kind we have ever played and scored a big hit. The numbers are all well done, the dancing being especially good. There are four girls with Mr. Evans and every one of them scored individually. Closed strong. CLIFTON CRAWFORD - (22 mins.) This is about the best act he has yet given us and he was a big hit with it. It consists of a series of songs, recitations and a bit of dancing, opening with a "souse" bit that gave him a splendid start. His material has been changed around so that it is virtually a new act from what he offered last year. Closed very strong. MME. DOREE'S CELEBRITIES - (23 mins.) We have played t his act several times and it has always made good. They are giving about the same program they have used in the past with the usual introductions by Mme. Doree and she has surrounded herself with a group of fine singers. It is a big, showy musical number, well dressed and staged, and went big. BOB HALL - (18 mins.) His extemporaneous songs gave the bill a very good comedy number in the next to closing spot. As usual he was given some tricky subjects to handle but got away with everything in splendid shape, and was a big applause winner. "BEGINNING OF THE WORLD" - (9 mins.) - A pretty novelty which held them in in good shape. It is a spectacle away from anything else we have offered and those who remained for it gave warm recognition. GENERAL REMARKS - This show opened to virtually a capacity house and the entire bill went over with splendid results, several big applause hits being nicely distributed and it furnished very satisfactory entertainment.
