PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S October 20th, 9 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Good average, excepting the usual Prince of Wales pictures which are being very much overdone. "Topics" very good. THE RIOS - (9 mins.) A neat looking ring act by a man and woman. Do a showy routine of tricks cleverly and did very well as an opener. ADELAIDE BOOTHBY - (21 mins.) One of the poorest acts handed to us in some time. It dragged terribly all the way. Got a few laughs here and there, but as a wholie it is way below our standard and finished with hardly a hand. FRANCES NORDSTROM'S "On The Ragged Edge" - (15 mins.) This sketch took the place of Berk & Valda at the last moment and went on at the opening matinee without billing. It is one of the most novel offerings we have ever had. Very well played by three persons and in addition to getting a liberal amount of laughs closed to a big hand. RYAN & HEALY - (20 mins.) These boys cleaned up a big applause hit with their songs. Their prohibition number was a tremendous applause winner and brought them back for an enchore, which also went over in great shape and they finished very strong. They work on the order of Van & Schenck and are very good substitutes for this team in vaudeville. WINSTON'S WATER LIONS & DIVING NYMPHS - (16 mins.) Probably the greatest novelty of its kind we have ever played. There was not a moment during the entire time that the audience was not only interested but enthused by the remarkable work of the seals. The girls also do fancy diving that was spectacular and the whole act registered a big hit. LILLIAN FITZGERALD - (26 mins.) Her act is better than she has given us on previous visits here and was one of the big applause hits, stopping the show long enough to come back for a little speech of thanks and closed very big. "EXTRA DRY" - (36 mins.) This is W. B. Friedlander's new production and measures up very will with previous offerings. It has a lot of catchy music and some good comedy. The principal parts are all well played. It is also nicely staged and elaborately dressed. Closed with a big flash number which brought a good hand. JOE TOWLE - (17 mins.) In the next to closing spot his "nut comedy" got a lot of laughs and following the big musical comedy act held the spot in very good shape. MME. ADELAIDE HERRMANN - (12 mins.) She has not played here in quite a long time and held the house seated as well as anything we have had in closing position in several weeks. The routine of magic contains some familiar tricks and some new illusions, all well done. GENERAL REMARKS - This is the heaviest show we have played in some time and needed several changes in running order after the first show. With this done, however, it proved very satisfactory and was well liked. The new running order was:- A. Orchestra B. Pictures C. The Rios D. Adelaide Boothby E. "On The Ragged Edge" F. Ryan & Healy G. Mme. Herrmann H. Joe Towle I. Winston's Seals J. Lillian Fitzgerald K. "Extra Dry"
