PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S AUGUST 9th, 20 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Very good. MARGARET TAYLOR - (7 mins.) Opens with a song and a little stepping, followed by a routine of tricks on tight wire. Did very well in the opening spot. FURMAN & NASH - Two men in a singing act. Have some good comedy numbers and got them over in good shape. Closed to a very good hand. (19 mins. MARSHALL MONTGOMERY - (19 mins.) Did very well with about the same run of material he has used for some time. He has elaborated on the luncheon idea with the dummy and gets a lot of comedy out of it. Got a lot of laughs and closed strong. MARGUERITA PADULA (13 mins.) A versatile woman who delivers her material in high class style. She sings, whistles and plays a piano and scored with each number. She makes a very nice appearance and closed to a big hand. CLARK & BERGMAN - (21 mins.) Their new act was a big hit here. They have a good lot of songs and, as usual, got every bit of value out of them. The whole act got over in great shape and they finished strong. VAN & CORBETT - (24 mins.) A big laughing hit. This was Corbett's first appearance in this house in many years and the act was given a great reception. Got a lot of laughs which they kept going constantly and they closed very big. EVA SHIRLEY - (19 mins.) A very big applause hit. She mixes jazz music with several high class vocal numbers, showing her versatility and disclosing a voice of good calibre. The jazz band and dancer she carries also scored heavily and the entire act was a tremendous hit, stopping the show. DOLLY KAY - (11 mins.) The applause hit that this single woman put over following the big jazz number was really remarkable. She held this difficult spot in wonderful shape, scoring with every number, and closing very strong. PEDERSON BROS. (6 mins.) This act did extremely well in the closing position. The day was extremely hot but the act followed a long show and furnished a very good closing number. GENERAL REMARKS - The show ran strong from start to finish. Several of the acts scoring big hits. There was plenty of music but no conflicts and the whole show gave an ideal summer entertainment. Opened to capacity on a hit day.
