CRITICISM, KEITH'S BIJOU, MARCH 21st. 1904 #2. NORA BAYES. Drop in one. 14 minutes. Comedienne and Vocalist. Making her first appearance here. The possessor of a good voice and closing with two really old songs she was able to interest her audience, and by the gingary way in which she worked, gained really good applause. She has rather a forward style of work, not particularly pleasing to an old theatre goer. Indeed I would say that she is very much accustomed to working clubs and concerts of that order. The style she portrays is not of the refined variety we aim at. Closed to good applause and earned a couple of recalls. 2 shows. LEROY & CLAYTON. C. D. F. 21 minutes. A sketch team not above the ordinary at any time. The present sketch cannot be classed with their previous presentation. "Hogan's Hansom". To-day however it filled in nicely and earned good applause. Closed to fairly good applause. 2 shows. FRANK BUSH. Drop in one. 21 minutes. The only reception accorded and performer to-day. Bush knows how to tell his stories and takes his audience in to his confidence and make them understand every word he says. All his stories were well received to-day and at the close earned a couple of recalls, closing to very good applause. 2 shows. Good for us at any time and always a drawing card. FOUR WEBBS. Garden in 4. 11 minutes. Acrobats and hand balancing work formaly done by three of them, in the three show section. It is hardly on a par with some of our recent closing acts but they do just get by here and closed to good applause. 2 shows. BIOGRAPH. Collection of pictures probably up to their standard. 20 minutes. COMMENT. After last weeks show this one suffers considerably by comparison. As a whole it cannot be said to be up to the usual standard. The first half of it is ordinary and no act can be picked out to be classed as strong. Eddie Mack, Frank Bush and Nora Bayes, were the only real applause winners. From my viewpoint it does not seem that we will be able to draw new business. I will be pleased if we get our usual amount of businesswhich will enable us to land satisfactorly, but the show itself is a disappointment. E.. P.. LYONS..
