Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of March 28, 1904. (Charles Lovenberg) I consider this bill a very poor one for the amount of money expended. The acts individually are all right but they don't blend. There are too many slap stick acts and Fanny Rice and Bellman & Moore acts put a decided crink into the bill and it is one of the hardest bills to arrange I ever had. Christian & Turner. Two colored men who do a rolling-skate act, one of them doing comedy. The straight man is very good, in a small way, the comedian amounts to nothing. The act is a good one for an early place on the bill. 12 min. full stage, 3 shows. Laura Comstock. This young woman makes a very nice appearance and is refined in manner but I hardly think her material is up to the requirements. The act may be classed as fairly good from a three a day standpoint. 11 min. in one, 3 shows. Miett's Dogs. This is a very nice little dog act about the same as the usual dog act doing three shows. HE has a nice neat apperatus and the dogs are bright and altogether they make good. 15 min. full stage, 3 shows. O'Rourke & Burnett Trio. This is the usual dancing act of O'Rourke & Burnett's with the addition of their little boy who is the feature of the turn, and on his account they make quite a hit. 20 min. in one, 3 shows. Bellman & Moore. This act was a decided frost. I think that is about as much as I can say for it. 25 min. open 3, close in one, 2 shows. Romani Trio. This is something of a novelty in the way of brass wind instruments. They dress neatly and the women are rather good looking and their music is quite acceptable. 11 min. open full stage, short close in one, 2 shows. Sylvno. Equilibrist. I believe he has played all over the circuit, so comment is unnecessary other than to say, he is good and is well liked by the audience. 10 min. full stage, shows. Fanny Rice. I had her in a latter place in the afternoon and her lights didn't work very well and of course, for that reason, the act didn't go. I hardly think it a strong act in any sense and I don't consider it worth what we are paying for it. 20 min. practically in 1, 2 shows. Three Hickman Bros. This is an eccentric nondescript act introducing a little of everything and they certainly got the laughs this afternoon. 16 min. open in 3, close in 1, 2 shows. Felix & Barry. In the same act they have given us before and which went quite well this afternoon. 23 min. in 3, 2 shows. Orpheus Comedy Four. Personally, I don't care anything about these acts and I don't think our average audience cares for that sort of slap stick comedy which is not very good and their singing only acceptable. They went pretty well this afternoon but I think we had a very easy audience as there is no school this week and there were a great many school children and young people in, with whom they found favor. 15 min. in 1, 2 shows.
