58 (M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of May 9, 1904. Stereopticon, 2 shows, 10 min. in 1 -- Usual interesting collections of home and foreign views. Fadettes Orchestra, 2 shows, 60 min. full stage -- Entire change of program this week. No diminution in interest, every number being encored, and a triple encore at the finish. Harp solo by Miss Warner went tremendously strong. No doubt whatever but they are drawing the musically inclined people of the city, as all portions of the house filled up much earlier than usual. Leonard Kane, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1 -- Novelty step dancer; first time here. Works in evening dress, a la John Ford, whom I agree with Mr. Hodgdon, he excels as a dancer. Could hold a place in any part of the bill. Coture and Gillett, 3 shows, 9 min. open full stage close in 1 -- These fellows are clever acrobats and tumblers, but their comedy is not particularly good. Were forced into the best place in the bill they have ever had in this house, owing to the new scheme of running the show, and went well. Poettinger's Swedish Ladies' Quintet, 2 shows, 14 min. full stage -- In songs and dances, in costume and with special scenery. Did not go so strong as when they were here last winter, perhaps, but proved satisfactory at that. Victor Moore and Emma Littlefield, 2 shows, 25 min. -- In a comedy talking singing dancing act. Too well known to need further description by me. Most of their material was new and the act made a big hit. Everhart, 2 shows, 11 min. full stage -- Novelty hoop roller, helped out by two clever assistants. The greatest act of the kind in the business. TOO well known to need extended notice. Carson and Willard, 2 shows, 15 min. in one -- German dialect comedians and parody singers. Have improved greatly since I saw them last, and think they have grown to be the best in the business, excelling Raymond and Caverly. Their jokes were great, exciting screams of laughter all over the house. The laughing hit of the show. raw and raining) we had a big house today. The fact that we practically filled the higher-priced section, however, immediately after the opening, could only be explained by the presence of the Fadettes. The last week's experience sort of convinces me that we have a winner in the enlarged orchestra, no matter what the weather conditions during the summer. Balance of the show, good and bad -- mostly the first. Bellman and More worst slump. Would not care much if they never came back.
