115 NEW YORK SHOW: WEEK AUGUST 1st, 1904: JACOBS & VAN TYLE:-Man and woman in a comedy sketch, the man made up as a sort of eccentric Dutchman. They both have fairly good voices, and while the comedy is not plainly apparent it makes a very good opening act. 11 Mins. Full stage, close in one, if necessary. NH-3, THE GOLNBOCKS: AR-3, Russian dancers, man and woman, in Russian costume, doing the peculiar dance for which these people are distinguished, and I think they do as well if not better than any performers in this line that we have ever had. They attempt a little singing at the opening of the act, which is not particularly good, but as the act is very short anyway, we allowed it to stay in. 8 Mins. full stage. FALARDO: HR-3, Instrumental imitator. this fellow is quite a clever performer and went better yesterday than I have ever seen him go in this house. 12 mins. in one. LYSTER & COOK: NR-3, Man and woman in a combination xylophone and slack wire act, the woman doing the work on the wire and also assisting the man on the xylophone. It is a very pretty sight act, the woman being neatly dressed, a fairly good performer on the wire, and both being good xylophone players. 11 Mins. full stage. We have revised their act to close with the xylophone so as to get something in one. ELECTRIC COMEDY 4, GRR-3, This is the same act that we used to play 7 or 8 years ago, or rather they are the same people and no better nor no worse than they were at that time. Considered from a 3-show-a-day standpoint they are all right, especially at the salary which I am paying them. 19 Mins. full stage, close in one. THE BELLECLAIR BROS. NH-3, As good an acrobatic act, I think, as there is in the business. Their work consists largely of display of muscular power. They do some posing in a cabinet before commencing their acrobatic work, and as they work in perfect unison it makes the opening of their act rather a novelty. They were splendidly received. 13 minutes, full stage. MORTON & ELLIOTT: GRR-3, In their familiar harmonics, singing and paper tearing act, which as usual, went very big. 11 Mins. in 1. CLARA BALLERINI: GNH-2, Balancing trapeze: Miss Ballerini thought she had an idea for a new act, but I could not see anything in it and cut it out. She opened her act with a stereopticon picture representing what is supposed to be her dream, she and her young lady assistant in the meantime singing back of the drop. At the rise of the curtain they do a few steps of dancing and Miss Ballerini goes on the trapeze. She afterwards does a fine bit of balancing on an unsupported ladder, which added to her act, but the stereopticon part of it is useless. 12 Mins. opening full stage, closing in one. MITCHELL & CAIN: GYH-3, In the act which is familiar to everybody, and which went very well yesterday. 17 mins. full stage. MEREDITH SISTERS: GHR-2, Two light colored mulatto girls, and probably as nicely a dressed team as there is on the stage. They sing two songs in one with changes of costume, and go to full stage, with a special set, and sing Indian songs, which made quite a hit. 12 mins. opening in one, closing full stage. ARTHUR WHITELAW: GYH-2, Irish comedian. This fellow has the neatest Irish make-up that I have ever seen on the stage. His humor is of a rather quiet character, but still I think the audience appreciated it. He doesn't burlesque the character at all, but simply makes up as a well dressed, well to do Irishman. 19 mins. in one.
