118 (M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of August 8, 1904. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1 -- Usual collection of interesting home and foreign views. Fadettes Orchestra, 2 shows, 60 min. full stage -- Went about as well as usual, although the applause was not so universal, and I think lots of people are getting tired of it. Joseph Belmont, 3 shows, 11 min. in 1 -- Man who calls himself "The Human Bird", as he whistles in imitation of various songsters. He is a pretty clever chap and has a good address in introducing his imitations. From a 3-a-day standpoint can be considered of good value. Julia Ralph, 3 shows, 12 min. open full stage, closes in 1 -- This woman does burlesque imitations to the various characters in melodrama, but is not clever at all. She lacks personality, which is her principal drawback. In her straight imitations, done in 1, with a spot light, she was better. The act is one that no one would care to have repeated. Belleclaire Brothers, 3 shows, 12 min. full stage -- This act is finishing the circuit and has been described in the other houses. They wanted to cut out part of it in the supper show, claiming that they had been let off in the other houses. While the act is a good one, it is not equal to that of Laveen and Cross, who could not get two shows, while these young men will received contracts in that way. Louise Montrose, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1 -- This girl is something of a favorite here and got a fairly good hand when she came on. She makes two changes of costume and sings four songs. She did not go very strong on the first, but caught them with her second and third, in the latter giving the funny eccentric dancing with which she made her reputation in the "Prince of Pilsen." She finished in an imitation of George Cohan that was quite clever. It makes a good act for an early place in the 2-show section. Tom Lewis and Sam Ryan, 18 min. open full stage, closes in 1 -- These young men are too well known to need any further comment from me beyond the fact that their old act created as much laughter as ever. Maddox and Wayne, 2 shows, 21 min. in 1 -- These young men are also well known on the circuit. One of them works straight and the other made up as a messenger boy. They did very nicely with a somewhat apathetically inclined audience. in order to strengthen our bills and practically the whole of them are finishing the circuit here, so that no shifting was possible.
