146 CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S NEW THEATRE, PHILA. SEPT. 19TH. CASTLE & COLLINS-NH-Two men, working blackface, singing, dancing, and a little talk. a few jokes and stories. A good little three-a-day act. Went well as an opener. 14 mins. in one. MOONEY & MOLREIN-GRR-?-Man and woman, singing, dancing and music on the mandolin, piano and concertina. Man's singing is bad. Act on the whole is only fair. They will open the show on the re-arrangement. 16 mins. C.D.F. in 2-1/2. HARRY BROWN-NR-3-Colored comedian. Works in dress suit. Same line of work as Ernest Hogan at 1/2 the price--nearly as good, too, for this house, for the Southerners here think all coons are alike. Good act. 15 mins. in one. MR. & MRS. JACK [HAYMAN?]-KR-3-Man and woman, comedy sketch, entitled, "The New Stenographer." Man works as German comedian--the woman as the stenographer. She is pretty and attractive. The dialogue is bright for a three-show act. Taken as a whole the act is a very good one for the early bill. 15 mins.-C.D.F. in 3. GREENE & WERNER-GNH-2-Man and woman, singing, coon songs. Open in one, and then go to a special jungle set and make up as Zulus. Made a pronounced hit with their "jungle" work. Immensely pleased the audience, and received two curtain calls. 14 mins. Open in one-close special set in 4. DOROTHY KENTON-AR-3-The Girl with the Banjo. A neat and dainty little three-show act. She seems to get a great deal out of the banjo, and her cleverness and personality carry her through nicely. 8 mins. in one. ANNIE IRISH-SMR-2-Sketch entitled "An Actress' Christmas." Miss Irish is supported by one man, who takes the part of a servant. The scene is laid in a dining room, and Miss Irish carries on a conversation with imaginary guests. In this visionary dialogue, which is really a monologue, Miss Irish depicts brightness, disappointment, chagrin, hope, despair, pathos, comedy and tragedy--with little comedy. The plot of the sketch is new, a novelty, cleverly conceived, and admirably presented. Miss Irish's work needs no comment--she is an artiste to the finger tips. The sketch is an excellent attraction for this house, and is sure to please everyone. 20 mins. C.D.F. in 3. AL CARLETON-NH-2-Formerly of Carleton & Terre. Delivered a monologue entitled "The Stringtown Yap." Songs and stories--some new, many old. Not a great two-show act by any means. He managed to get a few laughs in spots, and managed to get by at 2.45. Will probably shift with Dorothy Kenton. 12 mins. in one. HENRY LEE-SRR-2-Second and last week of this famous impersonator. The first week came nearly being the last, for Mr. Lee would not have Miss Irish or Marcel's Pictures billed over him on his second week. The act is too well known for comment. It is simply the best in its line. 25 mins. Spec. Set. SALLIE STEMBLER-Grr-2-Sang four songs. Her mixed monologue and her songs seem to go better here than her straight singing, although she did very well to-day. Good act. 12 mins. in one. MARCEL'S PICTURES-Hrr-2-Can see no change in the act since last here. An excellent attraction. Every picture was applauded. 16 mins. Spec. in 5. QUIGLEY BROS.-YMR-2-Two men, Irish talking act. They always seem to have bright stuff, and always seem to please the patrons here. 15 mins. in one.
