147 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of September 19, 1904. (Charles Lovenberg.) I am not sure whether I like this weeks. bill as well as those which proceeded it or not. It went pretty well with the audience but it didn't seem to strike me just exactly right. The acts are individually, satisfactory but it needed the one thing the other weeks had. Daly & Devere. In their well known act, "The Janitress". 15 min. in three, 3 shows. Allan Shaw. Coin and card manipulator. One of the very best. Good enough to go on any time before nine or three o'clock. 12 min. in one, 3 shows. Marion Lamont. Soprano vocalist. This lady is not a good vocalist and her personality is quite bad. We have many singers doing three shows for considerable less money and who give better value. 10 min. in one, 2 shows. Finlay & Burke. Travesty sketch. This is a good lively act and is always safe if not got on too late. 16 min. open three, close in one, 2 shows. Sandor Trio. This act is too well known to require comment. Went as well as ever. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. Frederick Bond & Company. Mr. Bond is giving a modernized version of "Lend Me Five Shillings", reduced to about 25 min. for vaudeville purposes. This was its first presentation today and though quite crude in spots, it got a good many laughs and seemed to please the audience. I am not particularly taken with his support but there is no doubt but that he will put the act into shape before the week is out and make it thoroughly acceptable. I am only sorry that he didn't do it before in some other place than Providence, as I will not get the full value of it. 25 min. in 3, 2 shows. Martin Brothers. Xylophonists. Well known over the circuit. Should be rated as good. 13 min. in one, 2 shows. Charles Hera. Juggler. This man does a good act but after some of the great ones that we have had, he just gets by. He complained of being ill this morning and that may have to some extent interfered with his work. 14 min. in three, 2 shows. Brandon & Wiley. Colored song and dance artists. The man is a very clever acrobatic dancer. They do a lively act and get lots of applause. 14 min. in one, 3 shows. Carter De Haven Sextette. This is a very pretty and novel act. The wardrobe is attractive and so are the girls and they do some really meritorious work, in the way of singing, dancing, and travesty, but I must go on record of saying that the act gets about $150. too much money either from the standpoint of making good (considering quality) or cost to themselves. 25 min. full stage, 2 shows. Haines & Vidocq. Same old act: but they get the laughs, however, I should hesitate at playing them again until I saw something new. 18 min. in one, 2 shows. Herbert's Dogs. One of the very best acts of its class. Has a lot of novelty and is lively: good comedy, etc. 15 min. full stage, 2 shows. Biograph. O. K.
