TEMPLE THEATER, DETROIT, SEPT. 19. BAILEY AND FLETCHER Two colored men in ragtime songs. This act opened our show and went quite strong. It is not as good an act as several other colored acts of this kind, but it is not a bad act at all. 13 min in one HELENE GERARD Miss Gerard made her second appearance in this house and made good as formerly. She has added a dog to her act and her horses appear to have improved in some of their stunts. I regard this act as the prettiest act in vaudeville. 12 min. F.S. GEORGE H. WOOD Mr. Wood returned to us with the same line of stuff he gave us on his previous visit, and the consequence was that he did not go as strong as we thought he would. 19 min. in one. HERRMANN THE GREAT Leon Herrmann, so-called Herrmann the Great, who is a nephew of Alexander Herrmann, made his first appearance at this house and was very well received. He was greeted by two overwhelming audiences Monday. Nearly all of his tricks are old but he executed them with great dexterity. There is not question as to his drawing powers. 33 min F. S. JOSEPHINE GASSMAN AND HER PICKS Miss Gassman and her colored kids has always been quite a favorite in this house and this week is no exception to the rule. She went strong here as did the children. 12 min. in one. BAILEY AND MADISON This is a rough grotesque act but it is clean and it gets many a hearty laugh. The men are good ground tumblers, and they have some new and witty lines. 10 min. F. S. BASQUE QUARTET Three men and a woman who sing operatic selections in a highly acceptable manner. 13 min. in one. JEWELL'S MANIKINS This is one of the best manikin acts we have ever played. The setting is gorgeous and Jesse Jewell has perfected the manikins in a truly astonishing manner. Although it closed our show, with the exception of the kinetograph, it held everybody to the very end 22 min. F. S.
