196 (M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of Oct. 24, 1904. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 7 min. in 1 -- Usual selection of interesting home and foreign views. The La Moines, 3 shows, 15 min. open full stage, close in 1 -- This is a fair musical act, by a man and woman, introducing a few novelties. They made a transformation scene to the interior of a Chinese theatre, the man and woman making change of costume, and introducing a little girl made up as a Chinese baby. The music in this part of the act is a novelty. This is their first time here and they could go in a better place on the bill. From the 3-per-day standpoint, good act. Eldora and Norine, 3 shows, 18 min. open full stage, close in 1 -- A good juggler, who does a variety of work, but lacks finish and personality. All right in the 3-show section, which will always be his limit. The Zarnes, 3 shows, 9 min. full stage -- Man and woman, in a trapeze act. This sort of turn always does well in Boston and this was no exception today. VanFossen and McAuley, 3 shows, 16 min. in 1 -- Blackface comedy talking, singing and dancing act. The first thing to wake them up, getting quite a number of laughs. Prevost and Prevost, 2 shows, 13 min. open full stage, close in 1 -- Acrobatic comedy sketch, good and bad in spots. Ought to be in the 3-show section. T. W. Eckart and Emma Berg, 2 shows, 24 min. open in 1, go to 4, close in 1 -- Presenting for the first time here their operatic sketch, "The Land of Two Moons", with special scenery, which they carried. It went much better than I expected, being carried along principally by Eckert's piano playing. Willy Zimmermann, 2 shows, 18 min. open in 2, close in 1- Impersonations of celebrated musical composers. This act went much stronger than I expected. In fact, he scored a hit. Vera King, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1 -- Singing comedienne and storyteller; a clever woman, with an attractive personality. Went big. These pictures were among the laughing hits of the entire show. Mimetic Hart, 3 shows, 14 min. in 1 -- Giving vocal imitations of animals. He calls himself "The Human Zoo." Good enough for the 3-show section. Comment - There is too much 2-show material in the bill, including some acts that do not fit at all, although they went well. We could have got along very nicely without Eckert and Berg, and Hines and Remington. The afternoon audience was a most unusually enthusiastic one, and capacity in number, so the probabilities are that we shall do a large week's business.
