Lotta Gladstone, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1 -- In her character study of a country girl, which is too well known to the circuit to need comment from me. Her infectious laugh always gets them going. She was the first one on the bill to receive advance applause, and her act was laughed at and applauded all through. Mystic Cauldron, 2 shows, 20 min. in 2 -- Being a series of interesting experiments with liquid air. The lecturer was decidedly nervous and many of his expressions were such as he would use in "opry" houses, but notwithstanding the audience was manifestly interested in everything he did, and in a couple of days it will be working smoothly. It could not, with truth, be said to have made a tremendous hit, from an applause point of view, but there can be little doubt that it will create an immense amount of talk. Charlie Case, 2 shows, 22 min. in 1 -- Does not offer anything new in his monologue, but he managed to keep them chucklingly amused from start to finish. It will help his act materially and likewise the show to reduce his time six minutes, which I will do for the balance of the week. Ed F. Reynard, 2 shows, 21 min. full stage -- Ventriloquil comedian, introducing a wonderful number of mechanical automatons, which he manages to manipulate in a clever manner. Scored the laughing hit of the bill, getting three or more curtain calls. John Ford and Mayme Gehrue, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1 -- Singing and dancing act, neatly costumed; scored a hit in a difficult spot in the bill. Horse Act, 2 shows, 20 min. full stage -- Changed their work somewhat from last week, introducing two pretty ponies, a white and a seal brown, one of whom skips rope, and the other dances a cakewalk. As big a hit as last week. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1 -- Showing the following pictures: The Convict's Escape. Amusing but suffers from following "The Lost Child."2. An English Chicken Farm. Interesting. 3. A Workingman's Paradise. A novelty and quite funny. 4. A panorama of the St. Louis Exposition. Beautiful series of pictures; instructive. 5. Let Uncle Reuben Show you How. Quite funny. 6. Along, a venturesome baby on Coney Island Beach. Interesting and amusing for ladies and children.
