Will H. Murphy, Blanche Nicolls and company, 2 shows, 25 min. open in 1, closes full stage -- Presenting their burlesque specialty, "From 'Zaza' to 'Uncle Tom'", which was originally done in this house for two weeks last summer. Scored the laughing hit of the show. "Christmas on the Island", 2 shows, 21 min. in 2 (can close in 1) -- First time here for this singing and comedy act. Went splendidly, and I think it will prove one of the big hits of the bill before the week is very old, as it is just the sort of stuff that pleases patrons of this house. Charles Kenna, 2 shows, 17 min. in 1 -- This man has been giving practically the same material during the past two years and it is beginning to wear out. He did not make much of an impression on the afternoon audience; will probably go better at night, although we have decided to move him up a couple of pegs. Will not want him again for a year at least. Brothers Wilton, 2 shows, 8 min. full stage --Comedy triple horizontal bar act with bounding net. Did not seem to go with so many laughs as usual but I think it was due to the apathy of the Monday audience and not to any lack of ability on their part. Will probably show up better during the balance of the week. It is a particularly good act for the children. Raymond and Caverly, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1 -- German dialect comedians and burlesquers. Had some new material and went as strong as any act in 1 for a long time. Powell's Marionettes, 2 shows, 14 min. full stage -- This is a "sloppy weather" sort of act, not in the same class as Holdins, and away behind Jewell's, both in regard to the working of the marionettes and the spectacular display at the finish. Will keep it where the children can see it. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1 -- Showing the following list of pictures: 1, The Widow and the Only Man. Interesting and amusing; a hit. 2, The Mysterious Midgets. Interesting and amusing. 3, Japanese starting for the War. Interesting largely on account of the sympathy for the Japs shown by our audiences. 4, A Kiss and a Tumble. Laughable. 5, The Seashore Baby. Excellent for the woman and children. 6, The Clockmaker's Dream. Interesting and amusing; excites a deal of curiosity as to how it was made. Comment - Excellent show throughout; not a really poor act on the bill. It has balance between interesting and comedy
