219 NEW YORK CRITICISM: NOVEMBER 14th, 1904: THE NOHRENS: NR-3: Man and woman: Trapeze artists. Good appearance. Pleasing little act. Went good. 11 minutes; full stage. LAWRENCE CRANE: ? 3: Irish magician. Bad talker; nice appearance. Good act for three-a-day section. Drop in one, 20 minutes. THE CHAMBERLINS: GRR-3:- Man and woman: Rope and lasso manipulations. This act has not been seen here in nearly a year and they treated it as a sort of novelty. Went strong. 11 Mins. full stage, can close in one if necessary. EPPS & LORETTA: AR-3:- Colored man and woman: Singing and dancing act. They are good dancers. The man is a good singer, while the woman has no voice. It is a good act for an early spot. Drop in one, 14 minutes. MLLE. OLIVE: (With Harding & Ah Sid) Juggler: This young woman has improved since last here. She works quick and has a lot of new tricks. She was well received, and it is an excellent act for an early place. 12 Mins. full stg. NEWELL & NIBLO: GRR-3:- Man and woman in saxophone, violin and xylophone solos. This is an excellent act for any place on the bill. Nicely dressed, good musicians; elegant selections. 17 minutes, drop in one. FULGORA: YRR-2:-Character change artist, and very clever at quick change work. Although the act is a passe in some respects, his horse racing scene with moving panorama at the finish appealed to the gallery gods. A good act for an early place. 17 minutes, full stage. THE DEHLIAS: GYH-2:- First appearance of this French couple, in a dancing act which is rather novel in appearance. They carry two plush wings and a backing with a nickel pedestal on which they give several dancing poses. The act opens with the lady standing on the pedestal in a costume representing a butterfly, which she changes to various colors, after which they present a French waltz, and then close with a French tough Bowery dance. This part of the act was vulgar and suggestive, and I suggested a change to-night, which I think will make the act go better. It is rather novel and picturesque, and I think, will make good over the circuit. 11 minutes, in one. HINES & REMINGTON: GNH-2:- Man and woman in an act consisting of a few songs and some witty sayings. To my surprise this afternoon this act made a tremendous hit. Some of their material is new and they made them laugh from start to finish. 16 minutes, in one. MISS CHRYSTAL HERNE & CO: YRR-2:- Consisting of a man and woman in a dramatic sketch entitled "Between the Acts". This is Miss Herne's debut in vaudeville. The act is a dainty dramatic offering. She is clever and artistic. I think it is the only dramatic sketch that ever played here to my knowledge, where the audience gave the artist spontaneous applause in the middle of the act. She responded to three curtain calls at the finish, and I expect to do a lot of business on her name, as we have advertised her very extensively. 21 minutes, full stage.
