Nora Bayes, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1 -- Got the first advance reception of the afternoon but her first two numbers did not go very strong. Her third selection, a foolish, broken dialect lot of nonsense carried her off strong, but at that she was not such a hit as on the occasion of her previous engagement. Thomas J. Ryan and Mary Richfield, 2 shows, 25 min. full stage -- Presenting for the first time their latest comedy sketch "Mike Haggerty's Daughter". It is a typical Cressey concoction, being largely a play upon words and clever dialogue, almost every sentence of which drew forth laughter. I think it will score a big hit during the week. Harper, Desmond and Bailey, 3 shows, 14 min. in 1 -- Colored singers and dancers. Like all such teams they went big. Mabel McKinley, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage -- First Time here. Was applauded when she came on, showing clearly that she had been an important factor in drawing the large audience which practically filled every portion of the auditorium from orchestra to top balcony. As a vocalist, there is no gainsaying the fact that she is quite ordinary and if she were paid in proportion to her singing ability, she would not be receiving one-sixth of her present salary. She is good for one trip on the strength of her relationship to the late President McKinley, and that lets her off. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1-- Showing the following list of pictures: 1, The Elopement. Interesting and amusing. 2, The King of Spades. Interesting, especially for the children. 3, The Miss-Placed Signs. Amusing. 4, The Midnight Intruder. Interesting and amusing. 5, The Nest Robbers. Interesting and amusing. 6, Off His Beat. Laughable. 7, What are the Wild Waves Saying? Mildly amusing and of special interest to ladies and children. Francis Gerard, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage -- In muscular posing and feats of strength. Good act. Comment - The show is a capital one; the audience was large and unusually enthusiastic for Monday afternoon; we will do our usual big business.
