233 NEW YORK CRITICISM: NOVEMBER 28th, 1904: POWERS & FREED: NH-3: Full stage, close in 1, 15 minutes: Two young men, one lame, presenting a musical number. They make a good appearance, play fairly well. A good opening act ADAIR & [DAWN? DAHN?]: GRR-3:-Full stage, 12 minutes. Man and woman in a tight wire act. They do some good work, especially the "cake-walk" on the wire. Splendid stage appearance, and an excellent act for the three-a-day. LILLIAN LeROY: AR-3: Open in one, close in one, 12 minutes. This young woman, although unattractive, has a powerful but not musical voice. she opens in one, sings from the rear of two garden cut drops and closes in one. Rather novel and effective. An excellent act and deserving of a better place for the novelty end of it. THE SMEDLEY-ARTHUR SKETCH CLUB: YRR-2: Full stage, 22 minutes. Man woman and two boys in a sketch entitled "The Little Mother". A little comedy scattered throughout by the children. A scene from "Romeo & Juliet" by the children brings a little applause. The act is rather tame for a serious affair. Entirely too much money for an act of this nature. TRASK & GLADDEN: KR-3:- Drop in one, 9 minutes. This is not the old Trask & Gladden act. It is Trask with another man. Their singing is fair, while the dancing is fairly good. PANTZER TRIO: GNH-2: Full stage, 12 minutes: Three women and one man in a contortion act. The same as presented here before. The women make a splendid appearance. The act is novel and not offensive. COLE & JOHNSON: YHR-2: Full stage, 21 minutes. Two colored men. Second week. Singers of their own songs. They have changed their selections somewhat this week, giving us a programme fully as good as last week. They went very good CAMPBELL & CAULFIELD: GRR-3: Drop in one, 16 minutes. Two men in a talking and singing act. Their material is the same as when last here. They went well, however, as this was the first act to show that had a laugh. HARRY GILFOIL: MRR-2: Full stage, 22 minutes. Mr. Gilfoil gives as a character creation of "Baron Sands", after an evening at Madison Square Garden, thereby presenting his well known imitations. His act is entirely new and went very strong. Every imitation was strongly applauded. CLIFFORD & BURKE: GHR-2: Drop in one, 20 minutes. Two men in blackface talking, singing and dancing act. (The only good laughing act on the bill). They received plenty of laughs and applause all through. THOS. J. RYAN & MARY RICHFIELD: YMH-2: Full stage, 26 minutes. Mr. Ryan is presenting this week the one act comedy "Mike Haggerty's Daughter", a sequel to "Mag Haggerty's Father". The act is the same as presented here before. It contains several new bits of business. It went with a scream from start to finish and I think fully as well as before.
