PHILADELPHIA SHOW SEPT 4TH, 1905. H.T. JORDAN HERMAN SPILK-3-Rings. This man has an exceedingly fine muscular developement, and his work on the rings, especially his balancing was very good indeed. Frequent applause, mighty good opening act. 10 mins. Gar 4. JOE BELMONT-3-Whistler. Well known on circuit, always keeps audiences entertained in this house. Good three a day act. 13 mins. Olio 1. THE CASTANOS-3-Whirlwind dancers. Man and woman. They open with a song which is rather bad, as neither can sing. Their dancing is very good, and aroused some applause. The woman is much too large for this sort of work, and was considered vulgar by many of the ladies in our audience. In fact the female patrons commented so much on this phase of the act, that I would not care to play it again. 12mins. Gar. 3 ACKER & GILDAY-3-Travesty artists. Two men, opening in the regulation talking act. They go into a burlesque of melo-drama in costume. Aroused some laughter and applause, and can be classed as all right from a three a day standpoint. 13 mins. Adv. St. 1. W.C. WHITTLE-3-Comedy ventriloquist. This mn's work was surprise, and from a three a day standpoint, can be called a hit. He has some pretty good figures, and is a good ventriloquist. His comedy talk, and especially his parodies were well received. Laughed at and applauded throughout, and good hand at the finish. 20 mins. C.D.F. 2 1/2 & 5mins in 1. CHAS. SERRA-2-Equilibrist. This man does some very clever work, using a white column,. He opens in one or two poses, and then does his balancing work, some of which is quite original. Held attention of the audience, and received a good hand at the finish. 10 mins. Black Dup. in 3. SOPHYE ISAACS-2-This young lady is a local girl who made quite a hit this summer singing on the Steel Pier at Atlantic City. She has a good face and figure, good stage presence, and dresses modestly and becomingly She has an exceptionally good soprano voice, and with a good selection of songs, made quite a hit. She is on the order of Marion Garson, and in the eyes of the audience fully as good. As I think she could be secured for a minimal salary, I think she would make a good act in one for any house on the circuit. 12 mins. Olio 1.
