PHILADELPHIA SHOW. SEPT. 4TH 1905. (2) H.T. JORDAN LYDIA KNOTT & CO-2-Lydia Knott, supported by Lavern Titus, Chas. Kenyon and DeWitt Newing in Edward E. Rose's sketch, "A Wall St. Battle." Yesterday was the first production of this sketch on any stage, and while it did not arouse much enthusiasm, at the same time it pleased mildly, and should work out into a good vehicle in time. The first part drags badly being too talkly. The comedy introduced by Newing is fair and bad in spots. The last ten minutes of the sketch is quite dramatic, but none of the company play up to it. The story has to do with the endeavors of one broker to win the wife and fortune of his partner, in which he is foiled by the wife and the office boy. Miss Knott has a very pleasing stage presence, and is quite clever, but up to the present time has been unable to portray the part spiritedly enough or as it should be played. The cast is fair, Newing doing rather the best work. The sketch needs more or less pruning, but should develop into a good vehicle for vaudeville with the proper people, it having a strong finish. 23 mins. C.D.F. 3. LA PETITE MIGNON-Juvenile comedienne. This youngster is very clever, sings her songs with a lot of spirit, and is very good in her imitations. Went very strong indeed with our audience, and took two emphatic curtain calls at the finish. Good act. 12 mins. Oilo 1. STANLEY & BROCKMAN-2-Singing comedians. These two young men are well known on the circuit, and their work in this house is always appreciated. They have a new finish since last here, which they do in costume. Stanley has some new imitations, one being of Eddie Foy which is excellent. Mighty good act. 6 mins. C.D.F. 3 & 3 mins. in 1. SCOTT & WILSON-2-Comedy acrobats. Two men. These fellows were practically the hit of the show to-day. Their work is decidedly original and clever, whie the comedy end is well sustained. Mighty good act. 10 mins. St. in 1. McWATTERS, TYSON & CO-2-Man and woman assisted by two chorus girls and one chorus man in a musical conceit entitled, "Vaudeville." A little singing, a little dancing, a little magic, and a little spectacle for the finish. Most of the work is good and the act seems to please the audience although hardly of the calabre of a head line attraction. 21 mins. Special.
