Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of September 18, 1905. (Charles Lovenberg, Manager.) 38. The show this week in no sense compares with the two preceeding it. It lacks strength, hasn't any drawing feature so that the people will talk and is short on hillarious comedy. I question the amount of business we will do with it. Meany & Anderson. Rural sketch. Very bad. 15 min. full stage, 3 shows. Felmel Sisters. Duetists and bad. 14 min. in one, 3 shows. W. E. Whittle. Ventriloquist. This man has some pretty good stuff and pleased the audience who were evidently waiting for something to happen after the first two acts. Very good from a 3 a day standpoint. 20 min. open in 3, close in one, 3 shows. Kit Karson. Shooting act on a wire. Well known on the circuit. 9 min. full stage, 3 shows. Slater & Williams. Colored comedians. These men have improved their act quite a little since last year and were a great relief at this point on the bill being the first thing of any life we had to offer. 17 min. in one, 3 shows. Charles Serra. Equilibrist. This man does a very nice act on a Pedestal but it is nothing that will create any talk and got very little applause excepting for his last two tricks which were somewhat sensational. 7 min. full stage, 2 shows. W, P. Cahill. Irish monologuist. This man drew the first "real blood" of the afternoon show. Got a great many laughs and left to strong applause. 1u min. in 1, 2 shows. Chris Bruno and Mabel Russell. Singing and dancing comedy sketch. Personally I like this act very much but it made no great hit with the audience and they closed to only fair applause. From the standpoint of "salary" should say that they were only fair judging from the way the audience accepted it. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. Dewitt, Burns and Torrance. Acrobatic comedy act "The Awakening of Toys", well known on the circuit. They went quite well this afternoon. 14 min. full stage, 2 shows. Kelly & Violette. These people are always acceptable here and got the first, in fact the only real advanced applause of the day. I hardly think their selections are up to last year however they were well liked by the audience evidently and made one of the hits of the show. 14 min. in one. 2 shows, Horsky & Bergers Co. This is a very good dramatic comedy sketch although it hardly reached my expectations and is, in no sense fitted for a headline feature. IfI had a bill in which I could advertise them as a second feature and put them on about four numbers earlier it would be very good but not strong enough for this situation. 16 min. ful stage, 2 shows. Rice and Cady. As the audience were dying for a good laugh these men went very strong but I cannot, in any sense, see them for the salary that they get and it strikes me that it is rather foolish to turn down
