(F. J. O'Connor) 39 Boston Show, Week of Sept. 18, 1905. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Usual selection of interesting home and foreign views. The Be-Anos, 3 shows, 12 min. in 3--Man and woman doing some feats of acrobatic contortion. Goodenough little act of this sort for the early 3-a-day division. Honey Johnson, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--"Real coon" singer and storyteller. Had quite a bright line of material, though some of it coarse. His songs did not amount to much. Cut "All tied up" and reference to "The Garden of Eden", which might be called irreverent. Phil Rado and Jessie Bartman, 3 shows, 17 min. in 3--In the skit, "The New Girl", which only serves the purpose of introducing some very clever specialties. The acrobatic work of the man is especially good, and the act went off to an excellent hand for this period of the show. Good act for the 3-a-day section. John Zimmer, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Clever juggler of small articles. As always, with this man, he went big here today. One of the most useful acts in the varieties. Max Walden, 2 shows, 13 min. full stage--Female impersonator. This man is too well-known to need any comment from me. Went well here today and could stand a position further down the bill. Martin Brothers, 3 shows, 13 min. in 1--Xylophone players. One of the men did not show up this afternoon, but the other carried on the act in a most creditable manner. Both will be in the show this evening. Chassino, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage--Got quite an advance reception. There is no question but what this man is an exceptionally clever artist in his line, and his act was laughed at and applauded all through this afternoon. He will easily make good for another week. Got a big hand at the finish. Laura Burt, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1--Got quite a hand on her appearance. Her imitations were evidently well-known to the audience and although I think it more on account of name than ability. Miss Burt is well-known hereabouts and I think her name is a good card. Casting Dunbars, 2 shows, 10 min. full stage--Well-known over the circuit. Laughed at and applauded throughout. One of the best acts we play. Italian Trio, 2 shows, 11 min. in 1--Don't believe I ever knew a "stright" singing act to go as big as this one did today. Sang four selections to a tremendous applause. 2. An Adventurous Automobile Trip. Good comedy film. 3. Opening of Baseball SEson, Boston vs New Yorik. Picture if came earlier might have interested the fans. 4. A Stunning Creation. Quite a pretty colored film. Milt G. Barlow and Harriet Nicholson, 3 shows, 19 min. in 3--In a comedy singing and dancing sketch. Just about good enough for an opener but not much better. Comment:- The show up to the Woodland Nymphs is practically all we could ask for from the standpoint of the appreciation shown by the capacity audience, who were generous in their applause of all good points scored. As there were no good points with the Woodland Nymphs, they simply guyed them.
