New York Criticism-September 25th, 1905. THE HOLDS WORTHS; Man and woman, Singing, Dncing and Banjo Solos. A pleasing three-show act. 12 min- 3 shows THE DELMARS: 2 men. Barrel Jumpers. Most of all their work is new, but failed to make any impression, although it is a mighty good three-show act. 10 min. full stage HENRY & YOUN G: Man and woman. Travesty Artists: They get some scattered laughs for their burlesque work. The act does not amount to very much and just about passes. 15 min. in two-- 3 shows. SOPHIE BURNHAM: Soprano: Pleasing voice. Good appearance. Selections went very strong. Fully capable to hold down a better place. 10 min. in one- 3 shows FRED & MAE WADDELL: Club Jugglers: Open with a little singing which is very bad. Man changes to a German character, while the woman impersonates a tough girl. They do some very ordinary club juggling. The woman manages to score a few laughs for her slang phrases. A little too strong down in this place. Will change them to open the show to-night. 17 min. full stage- 2 shows SMIRL & KESSNER: "The Bell-Boy and the Dancing Maid." Acrobatic talking, singing and dancing.. The man's acrobatic work is very good. The woman is a little awkward. Received more applause for the poddle dog's posing in one then they did for their entire act. 15 min. full stage- close in one- 2 shows HERBERT'S DOGS: The audience appeared to be interested, but did not show any great appreciation. Personally, I think it is one of the best dog acts we played. Received some little applause on the finish. 12 min. full stage -2- NIBBE & BORDOUEX: Man and woman: Singing and Talking Comedy: Woman's voice does not amount to much, although she makes a pleasing appearance. Man protrays a character of a shadow-consumptive, which is a detriment to the act, and has a powerful talking voice. Some of his material is good, and they secure several scattered laughs, but are unable to hold them. They close with a little applause and are not strong enough for this place on the bill. The act is rather rough on the burlesque order. 18 min. in one- 2 shows. own in this stiff place in the show this afternoon and received a big lot of applause on the finish. 12 min. full stage- 2 shows CRANE BROTHERS: As the "Mudtown Minstrels:" Went fully as strong as before although their act is the same word for word. 18 min. drop in one--2 shows. BERZAC'S CIRCUS: This man did not make the impression as he did last week. Presume that it is owing to his riders. Will arrange to have them come from another part of the house, which I think will help a little. KINETOGRAPH: First- "The Funny Shave" Poor Comedy. Second-"The Boarding School Girls at Coney Island: Quite a number of laughs. Good picture Third:--"The Enchanted Chair" Good NOTE:------ The three-show section is very bad and the balance of bill is not strong enough for the audience to recuperate from the effects of the early part of the programme.
