New York Criticism--2-- 46 MR. & MRS. GARDNER CRANE & CO. In their dramatic comedy:-"A Yankee's Love for Dixie" 4 men, woman and a little colored boy. The sketch is quite novel. It contains a number of good laughs and is very interesting. Mrs. Crane's dialect as a Southern girl is very good. Received a big lot of applause on the finish. 24 min. full stage- 2 shows JACK GARDNER: Black-face: Up to the time this man went on the stage, there was very little comedy in the show, therefore, he had things all his own way on his parodies and they simply "howled" at everything he said. 18 min. in one- 2 shows. DE WITT, BURNS & TORRANCE: In the acrobatic sketch, entitled:-- "The Awakening of Toys:" Well known on the circuit. They held their own in this stiff place in the show this afternoon and received a big lot of applause on the finish. 12 min. full stage- 2 shows CRANE BROTHERS: As the "Mudtown Minstrels:" Went fully as strong as before although their act is the same word for word. 18 min. drop in one--2 shows. BERZAC'S CIRCUS: This man did not make the impression as he did last week. Presume that it is owing to his riders. Will arrange to have them come from another part of the house, which I think will help a little. KINETOGRAPH: First- "The Funny Shave" Poor Comedy. Second-"The Boarding School Girls at Coney Island: Quite a number of laughs. Good picture Third:--"The Enchanted Chair" Good NOTE:------ The three-show section is very bad and the balance of bill is not strong enough for the audience to recuperate from the effects of the early part of the programme.
