PHILADELPHIA SHOW SEPT 25TH 1906. H. T. JORDAN. 47 THE PRYORS-3- Man and woman in a little singing, a little dancing, and a little banjo work. Well known on circuit. Went very good indeed today, and will put them down the bill. 12 mins. C. D. F. 2 1/2 Drop. 1. ATTILA BROS. Three young men in muscular posing, and heavy weight lifting. One of thee boys has a very fine development, he opens the act with about 3 minutes posing in the cabinet, the three then go into the lifting of dumb bells, balancing of heavy weights, and so forth. While the act is little amateurish, the faces are new, and the act makes good on the early bill. 12 mins. Gar. in 3 HONEY JOHNSON-3-Colored singer and story teller. This fellow is a fair singer, but his talk was a little rough, and he tried to get confidenial with the audience: as a result they froze up on him. This town is too far south to stand for confidential talks from a colored man, and consequently I cut the talk, as am only going to use him in three songs the rest of the week. 12 mins. [?] in 1. GORMAN & WEST-3-Man and woman in the sketch entitled, "A Special Meeting" that they have been playing so long on this circuit. One of the best three a day that we play, and always makes good in this house if not on too late. Went very well to-day. 15 mins. C. D. F. in 3. MARIE LAURENT-3-Singer. This young lady has been criticized all along the line, and our audience seemed to agree with Boston and New York that she is not worth while. Not up to the standard of the straight singing turns that we have had in this house, and will have to go up the bill for the remainder of the week. 11 mins. Drop. in 1. SHIELDS & PAUL-3-Lasso and acrobatic work. Two men. These boys have something new in the way of a rope act, and made quite an impression on the matinee crowd. One works as a cow boy, the other as an Indian, and they are doing practically the same work done by Will Rogers. They also introduce hand springs, double jumping the rope, shoulder stands and so forth, all being done within the loop. Think the act fully as good as Rogers' with the exception that they do no comedy. 12 mins. Rocky Pass in 4. JAMES F. MacDONALD- 2 Songs and stories. First time in two years for MacDonald and he has improved greatly since last here. While his talk is only fair, he has a good selection of songs, a good voice, and works artistically. Held down his place in good shape. 15 mins. Olio in 1. and has a good finish, but is raather too talky at the start. As a dramatic sketch, however, can be rated as a good act. 25 mins. Water Lens. 4 - cut wood 3- stone house, porch, steps etc. E. 2. GEO. W. MONROE-2-This man in a hard place on the bill, managed to keep them laughing, and proved a good entertainer. Is doing his old Aunt Bridget monologue. Good act. 16 ins. Drop. in 1. CHAS. BARON'S BURLESQUE DOG MENAGERIE-2-Second week for this man and his burlesque dog menagerie. Seemed to go just as well this week as last, although in a much harder place on the bill. Original and funny. 14 mins. Gar. in 4.
