PHILADELPHIA SHOW. OCT. 2ND 1906. (2) H.T. JORDAN. SALERNO-2-Juggler. Advance applause. This man seemed to go fully as well as last week, notwithstanding the fact that he had an off afternoon and missed a number of his tricks. Still consider him the best juggler that we have ever had on this stage, which opinion is fully concurred in by the majority of the patrons of this house. 17 ins. Pal. in 4. JAMES FRANCIS DOOLEY & GIRLS-2-James Francis Dooley assisted by Dorothy Brenner and Ethel Rose, in songs and dances. Dooley sings well, and has a good selection of songs. Both of the girls are attractive, and one scores quite strongly in an imitation of Eva Tanguay, which is good, while the other does some toe dancing that is all right. Act as a whole is good if not on too late. 21 mins. St. in 1. A. O. DUNCAN-2-Ventriloquist. While this man may have superiors in the ventriloquial line, he easily leads them all in the material he presents, always having something new and up to date. Received a good hand on his entrance, and was the first act on the bill to wake up a sleepy house. Scored many big laughs, and closed to strong applause. A hit to-day and always in this house. 12 min. CECELIA LOFTUS-2-Imitations. Miss Loftus was a disappointment in a way this afternoon, as she did not by any means arouse the enthusiasm we looked for. The fact that the show ran late, and that the audience was one of the sleepiest we have had this season probably accounts for it. Each imitation was applauded, however, and there is no question but what she will prove a drawing card for the balance of the week. 17 mins. C.D.F. in 2 and close 4 mins. Olio in 1. JULES & ELLA GARRISON-2-In their burlesue entitled, "An Ancient Roman." Second time in this house for this burlesque, which has been elaborated upon since last here, and which is now a mighty good vehicle for laughing purposes only. The work of the Garrisons is well and favorably known on the circuit, and they had no trouble in making good this afternoon on a very late spot on the bill. 23 mins. Spec. JAMES THORNTON-2-Monologuist. James showed up in the best of shape to-day with a brand new song, and some new "Wheezes" His style has always appealed to our audience, and when he is in shape, is as good as the best. Managed to get them laughing to-day. 20 mins. Olio in 1.
