52 NEW YORKCRITICISM--October 2nd, 1905. THE PRYORS Man and woman: Well known. Greatly improved since last year. Big applause on the finish. An acceptable three-a-day set. 12 min. open in two-close in one. RADO & BERTMAN: In the alleged character comedy sketch: "The New Girl." Man does some very good contortion work and some excellent acrobatic dancing, which just about saves the sketch and makes it a very acceptable three-a-day act. 10 min. in two, close in one. DELLA CLARKE & CO Man and woman, in a character comedy sketch entitled: "Half Past Two:" Miss Clarke impersonates three characters:-The Lisping Girl--The Boot-Black--and an Actress. The act contains several good laughs and holds the attention of the audience. Man is quite a good vocalist. The act is alright for an early place on the programme, about 2 and 8 o'clock 20 min.-full stage-- 3 shows. MABEL MAITLAND: Negro stories: Pleasing personality. Resembles Bertie Fowler. Alright for an early place on the bill. 12 min. in one-- 3 shows. ANN WARRINGTON & CO Two men and a woman with the assistance of a property boy in a comedy:--"The First of May:" This act is greatly improved since it was tried out here. Not a dull moment--full of life and action. Woman does the talking,-husband does the mimic. He does not speak a word. The hit of the show up to this time. Fully deserves a beetter place. 19 min. full stage- 2 shows. STUART BARNES: Monologue and Songs: This man made quite a hit on his parodies. Received more applause than any other act on the bill. 20 min. in one--2 shows THREE SELDOMS: 3 men. First appearance. Posturing Act. They give us ten poses in White Bas Relief. The poses are artistic and perfect and I believe it is one of the best acts of this style we ever had. Each pose was appreciated and they finished to a big lot of applause. 9 min. drapery in two-- 2 shows THREE KEATONS: Received some advance applause. Went fully as strong as when last here. Scored a lot of laughs. 20 min. close in one-2 shows KERN'S MIMIC DOG: Quite novel. Uses the head of the dog with the aid of wigs, hats and costumes to portray the different characters, vi:-A German Soldier-Sailor-Le Hung Chang Old Lady-Irishman, etc. Received some scattered laughs on each character although did not make "He Learned Jiu Jitsu, so did the Missus"-Fair comedy "The Horse Theif" Good "Pierret and the Mysterious Dice" Good COMMENT:------ The show will be alright after it is re-arranged. Ann Warrington, Stuart Barnes and the Three Keatons were the biggest laughing hits of the show. Three Seldoms, the applause hit.
