(F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of Oct. 2, 1905. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 5 min, in 1--Usual selection of interesting home and foreign views. Brazil and Brazil, 3 shows, 10 min. full stage--Juvenile comedians and balancers. Excellent opening act for this house. They do nothing really wonderful, but it is a vast relief from some of the prevailing 3-a-day "sketches". Robin Heath, 3 shows, 11 min. in 1--kBlackface comedian and parody singer. Quite a bright entertainer in his line who has improved considerably since here last. Fair act for the 3-a-day division now and he got quite a lot of applause in this spot today. Kenyon and DeGarmo, 3 shows, 12 min. in 2--Man and woman, neatly costumed, in feats of equilibrium on a supported ladder. Big improvement since they were here last and they went extremely well in this spot today. Got an excellent hand on the finish and we will move them down a peg or two. Julies Larvette, 3 shows, 16 min, open in 3, close in 1--Magician and Illusionist of fair ability. None of his work but what has been done here before and much better. Just about got by in this spot. Richard Barry and Virginia Johnson, 3 shows, 18 min. in 3-in the travesty sketch, "Held for Ransom". There are several laughs to th piece, the man makes a number of costume changes to fit several melodramatic characters. The woman is pretty and held up her end fairly well I think with a little experience they wil lprove all right for the 3-a-day section. James F. McDonald, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1--Monologue and singing comedian. Well known on the circuit. His work was thoroughly appreciated today and he is all right for an early 2-show position for this house. Chaarles Barron's Burlesque Menagerie, 2 shows, 14 min. full stage--Quite a novelty for an animal act. Dresses all his dogs in skins of tigers, bears, etc. Laughed at and applauded throughout. Thoroughly appreciated. Piccolo Midgets, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1, open in 1, close full stage--Four little chaps who have not been seen here for as many years. They open in 1 with an imitation of a salvation army and then go to full stage with weight lifting, wrestling and work on rings. Every feat strongly applauded and they got a big hand at the finish. Excellent act for the early 2-show section. Vera King, 2 shows, 13 min. in 1--Comedienne and story teller. Has a lot of new material and a captivating personality. Went very well and we shall move her down a peg or two for the balance of the week. Scott and Johnson, 3 shows, 15 min. in 1--"Real coon" comedians, singers and dancers. A good 3-a-day act of this sort. Of course as with all acts of this sort, their dancing is the main feature and they are not bad by any means. I shall endeavor to move them up tomorrow so as to give them a chance at the crowd. Comment: The show on rearrangement will prove a capital one. We were somewhat handicapped by a misunderstanding in regard to Conway, but on rearrangement we can make it satisfactory. Conchas has an act that to my mind is worthy of cconsideration from all houses on the circuit, that is, judging from the tremendous hit he made today. Although on a little late, all his feats were most enthusiastically applauded.
